He needs to eat like everybody else, so... the light strings that you saw, they're a person's life force, and we were draining it. Instead of sapping one person completely we do a little from a lot of people. It's safer that way. Less noticeable. But it went to shit, obviously. He got greedy, I don't know, I... didn't ask. It didn't matter. What the fuck could I do?

You'll be in the limelight, so of course people will want to know about you. But the more familiar they are with your appearance, the more likely people will catch on that you aren't aging - and if that demon can't control himself, there could be a reputation of people getting sick after your performances...

Mm, it's just a little worrying.

I don't sing anymore. That's the last performance I ever gave. Before I came here I played video games for a living and I used an avatar... a Vtuber, they're more commonly called nowadays. [ he tugs on his ears. ] Back home humans can't see these. The bits that make me an Ashuri. I just look like a normal person to them, so I modeled my avatar after my real self. And, yeah, it'll be weird if my channel is around forever, but it's not like somebody else couldn't have taken over... y'know? None of my new fans know what I actually look like, and I still get attention, lots of it, ...the tethering is a lot weaker, but more people tune in so... it balances out.

I'm pretty sure that was the only time that happened, him going overboard like that, ...but I guess I can't say for certain... not with my memories being the way they are.
