I don't sing anymore. That's the last performance I ever gave. Before I came here I played video games for a living and I used an avatar... a Vtuber, they're more commonly called nowadays. [ he tugs on his ears. ] Back home humans can't see these. The bits that make me an Ashuri. I just look like a normal person to them, so I modeled my avatar after my real self. And, yeah, it'll be weird if my channel is around forever, but it's not like somebody else couldn't have taken over... y'know? None of my new fans know what I actually look like, and I still get attention, lots of it, ...the tethering is a lot weaker, but more people tune in so... it balances out.

I'm pretty sure that was the only time that happened, him going overboard like that, ...but I guess I can't say for certain... not with my memories being the way they are.

I mean, it had been a couple thousand to have someone make and rig the model, but I did make a decent amount of money prior to that.

Yeah, but it basically pays for itself.

Do you just market yourself online, then?

Me? ah... kind of. I play games for a living and people donate money to me. I entertain them! and they enjoy hanging out with me during the livestreams, so in order to keep doing what I doing they throw money at me. It's the same as watching a TV show, but a little more interactive. And I also have a Patreon, which is basically a monthly donation pool, and the people a part of that can vote on games I play and other stuff.

Audience engagement, huh... I guess it's good we don't have to worry about that here.

Yeah. It can get real stressful, especially since that's how I made my money. How many people watched, how many people I could get to sub and donate, and if I could get sponsors. All of that.

Do people often donate?

Yeah, actually! We call those simps!

That depends. Some people don't like making friends with people they might have to send to their deaths one day.

But everybody does it anyway. I don't think I've met one person that didn't have at least a few friends here. The killing games here wouldn't be so effective if nobody made friends, right?

Maybe from what you've seen, but I know some people who were pretty good at sticking to their units. Ahh, but maybe it's fallen out of fashion?
