Yes, that's correct. It's almost better to keep light pressure starting out: it doesn't take much to make the car go quickly, and there aren't many other drivers on the road, so you can drive slowly until you're more comfortable.

I will carefully heed that advice. I wouldn't want to ruin your car.

The car was a present from a unitmate, so I'm more concerned about the sentimental value. I was raised overseas. I didn't come to Japan until recently and only stayed for about two years before going back.

That being said, my education was unusual, even to westerners.
