[ Today you step out of the elevators and into the game room to find yourselves in an airy Grand Ballroom. Maybe, if you've been here long enough--you might recognize this room?

At the front of the room is a buffet table featuring finger sandwiches, petit fours, and savory pastries as well as a variety of small desserts complemented by bottoms-up turned teacups and steaming hot kettles set up for self-serve. From nowhere to be seen comes the sound of instruments playing. Up above, tethered to the ceiling, are what appear to be long curtains. …

The small, square tables feature place cards that as of yet are mysteriously empty, but other than that--there is nothing on the table. Those who have walked in and might prefer to walk out again will find they are mysteriously barred from exiting…. ]

[This sad child. He crouches, not getting any closer, resting his elbows on his knees and looking Nero over carefully.]

Nero, my young friend, please, for me, take a few deep breaths. In and out. Slowly.

And while you breathe will you listen to me? You need only nod or shake your head.

[His body seizes as he's forced to obey. In and out. Slow. But the look on his face is only growing more alarmed, if that's even humanly possible, as he shakes his head against his will.]

[More alarmed is bad. Though he doesn't know why.]

Then you need not listen.

[He presses his knuckles to his lips and frowns.]

Perhaps I am only making things worse. Shall I leave you to your loved ones? We may speak when you have calmed. I would not press you in such a state.

[He's stone still, and his mouth trembles like he's trying, trying to fight the fear gripping his throat into letting him form words. For a while it seems like a losing battle.

But eventually, like a truly scared, ashamed child, he whispers,]

A-are you gonna tell my dad?...

[This is heartbreaking.]

Nero, if you will permit, may I ask something?

[He... doesn't move or speak, but it's not a no? Or maybe he's still paralyzed by the fear of his DISGUSTING SLUTTY ACTIONS DESTROYING HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS FATHER]

Am I wrong to assume you do not normally wish to kiss me?

...I don't.

Then I am not entirely sure what you have to apologize to me for.

Then shall I apologize as well? I was just as active a participant. Moreover, I'm quite a bit older than you, and far less bothered by it. If anyone is the injured party here, it would be you.

Nero.... we were both being influenced quite heavily. My opinion of you has not changed. Nor do I think you have done wrong by me in any way.

I am well acquainted with powers that cannot be fought against. When one's mind is only half your own.... it is admirable to try to take responsibility. But it is also foolish.

I do not know what comfort I can offer you, but I am not upset. The worst I feel about it all is a bit awkwardly. I am far more concerned with your own reaction. Why you feel so deeply ashamed worries me. Will you talk to me about it?

[Nero vehemently shakes his head. No. No no no no, not to Lahabrea. The idea of talking to him made him feel ill, the idea of looking at him, being near him, right now, he couldn't stand it...]

[Well he gets the idea.]

Perhaps later? When this is not so raw to you.

[He just falls quiet. It feels like he'll never fight off this vortex of shame, not enough to ever talk to Lahabrea about it. But he can't escape him forever, either.]

[He sighs.]

Let us talk later. I hope you may feel better soon, Nero. I know there is much for your heart to process. But do remember you are cared for.
