[ Today you step out of the elevators and into the game room to find yourselves in an airy Grand Ballroom. Maybe, if you've been here long enough--you might recognize this room?

At the front of the room is a buffet table featuring finger sandwiches, petit fours, and savory pastries as well as a variety of small desserts complemented by bottoms-up turned teacups and steaming hot kettles set up for self-serve. From nowhere to be seen comes the sound of instruments playing. Up above, tethered to the ceiling, are what appear to be long curtains. …

The small, square tables feature place cards that as of yet are mysteriously empty, but other than that--there is nothing on the table. Those who have walked in and might prefer to walk out again will find they are mysteriously barred from exiting…. ]

[ she's immediately turning to pat Sabre down, checking for any serious injuries. ]

[ She jumps a little, then swats Adora's hands away ]

I'm fine! She broke some Bad End girl's arm but that's it.

As long as it wasn't yours. Anyway... I just wanted to give you a head's up, since I know you and Kohime have this whole...choosing one over the other thing.

[ it's not very succinct, but she's too tired to honey coat it. ]

I kissed Kohime in the game. There was this lipstick that was making people do it, and then a hairpin that kind of destroyed any self-restraint... I wanted to tell you before it turned into a big deal. Because Kohime even said it was just the game.

[ really, there's no actual real reason she should have to tell Sabre all this, they aren't dating and she probably did a bunch of kissing of her own. and if she was gonna get mad, there wasn't much Adora could do.

still, it feels necessary. ]

And not just her. She seemed pretty bothered that we kept ending up kissing, so I kissed Nemesis instead.

[hissterics]

[ She does, in fact, go stiff, a flicker of hurt on her face before she covers it up under the usual feigned aloofness. ]

. . . Yeah, I doubt that's why she was bothered.

Well, when she's pushing my face away and telling me it's just the game, I'm not sure how else I'm supposed to take it.

[ unfortunately, she knows that body language a little too well. she's getting a headache. ]

...And now you're pissed at me too, aren't you?

[hissterics]

I didn't even say anything!

[ yes ]

I may not have all of my memories, but I know your body language.

[hissterics]

Would you want to kiss them if not for the dumb game effects?

[dumbjockenergy]

Would you? You've got lipstick on too, Sabre.

[hissterics]

I asked you.

[ maybe this after game talk was a bad idea, because Adora's more frustrated than she was actually expecting. walking away would be a good idea.

instead, she pushes further into Sabre's space in challenge. ]

Why? So you can get mad at me for doing exactly what you're doing?

[hissterics]

[ Listen, this game has been A Lot.

Sabre bristles and pushes right back, tail lashing. ]

Why do you even care Adora?!

[dumbjockenergy]

Why do you?! When I got here, you made this huge deal about not betraying you and not preferring someone else, and then expect me to sit back and watch while you do whatever you want? And then get angry with me for doing the same thing!

[ it's not just anger bubbling in Adora's gut, she realizes. it's jealousy. ]

Do you think I like knowing you're kissing other people? I hate it! But I keep my mouth shut, because if that's what you want, then it's not my right to tell you not to! I'm not stupid, Sabre, I know you and Kohime have dated people here! I know you end up kissing people in these games!

[ too much, she's saying too much-- ]

If you don't want me kissing people, then I don't want you doing it either!

[ And if she agrees -- why? Adora doesn't want her. She never did. She never will.

So she can continue to be alone forever? ]

[hissterics]

[ The answer explodes out of her, hostile, tail lashing, but tell-tale tears prick the corners of her eyes. ]

Then do whatever you want! I don't care! Go marry every person here if that's what you want so badly!

[dumbjockenergy]

I don't want that! Are you even listening to me?!

[ Sabre's anger just seems to fuel her own, and Adora runs her hands through her hair to avoid grabbing her friend's shoulders. ]

I just want to know why I have to sit here and watch you kiss anyone you want and somehow that's fine, but if I even consider doing it for a game-- A game Sabre, where I had no control over it-- suddenly I'm in trouble! You're being a hypocrite! You don't make any sense! It'd be one thing if we were dating or married or something, but apparently, you're too busy sleeping with my unitmates to care that I have feelings too! I'm not your-- your property or something!

[hissterics]

What do you want from me, Adora?! You're mad about stuff that happened before you even showed up?! I just told you to do what you want!

[ hopped up on the mixture of angry adrenaline and this stupid perfume and lipstick, she acts without thinking--

grabbing Sabre and yanking her in for a rough, frenzied kiss. ]

[dumbjockenergy]

[ and then just as quick she's gone, off through the doors of the game tower without a word. ]

[hissterics]

[ Sabre remains frozen right where she is, even the lashing of her tail stilling completely, eyes round as saucers.

She watches Adora run off without a word, not even trying to stop her.




Her brain is no longer with us, sorry. ]
