[As everyone is finally starting to get their bearings with the strings and what they mean, and maybe learning a little about what they do, the kiosk and their phones will sound with a new alert.]

[With a twang, those who are participating in the game will find that their strings have been scrambled. It may not be all of them, but most of the familiar ones suddenly have new colors, and there may even be entirely new strings to complete strangers--not every ship makes sense! Time to work out these new relationships and show people what that's all about to have a shot at fixing it.]

Yeah, that doesn't sound great. So let's start with hand to hand and go from there.

Okay. Let's go to an open space, like the park maybe.

If you like, I can help train you as often as you like. I'll bet Lumine will help too. I know a bunch of people here who are great in combat, actually. [ Of course she does ]

Park works for me. We'll see if I take to it, but it never hurts an idol to get more versatile.

If you want to be able to protect people, there's no better way. But if you don't like it, don't worry. That's what we're here for.

-- This is where I'd ask if you know anything about fighting or if you did any physical stuff like sports we can build on, but I imagine you don't know that yet. Other than dancing, maybe.

Dancing for sure. Some idols do stunt work for shows and some are known for fitness and health. I'm not sure if I'm either of those though, don't remember.

Martial arts is sort of like dancing, there's a rhythm to it. I actually listened to music when I was learning my rope dart so I could get it right.

[coinstar]

Rope dart? But good maybe I'll take to it quickly.

[ She holds up a coiled rope with a huge star-shaped dagger attached to one end and a weight on the other ]

This thing. I picked it up since I've been here.

Cool, but intimidating. I don't know if I'll reach that level.

[sangreine]

Very intimidating. Also the hardest weapon in martial arts. [ Not for beginners or frankly even most experts. ]

But if you want, I have some tonfa I don't use very much. They're basically handheld clubs that can be used for defense or offense equally well.

Ohhhh, like in arcade fighting game.

Maybe I'll try those as well as hand-to-hand.

Video games have nothing on me when I have my natural abilities. But I'm still pretty good here.

[ Anyway! ] Okay, let's see where you're starting from. Throw a punch at me as hard as you can.

[t-tries his best but there's definitely some hesitation because hitting someone he's friends with

that said he's still pretty strong for his size, idol training made him pretty fit]

[ She watches him impassively until just before his hit would land, then her eyes glow bright red and she catches his hand. She may be tiny but she's freakishly strong. ]

That was pretty good! If you set your feet like this [ She demonstrates as she's talking ] and turn your hips and shoulder like this while you strike, you'll get even more heat on it.

[mimics her setup]

OK, I'm gonna try again!

[throws a much stronger punch this time! being raised by idol wolves means he picks up stuff quickly]

[ This time, seeing it's got more force, she braces her arm and doesn't lock her elbow, sets her stance. She still catches his hand, only because -- ]

Very good! The next thing to work on is keeping your balance even if you don't connect with anything. A lot of times you can get a follow-up hit with your elbow if you can catch yourself and change direction before they spot the shift.

[ She demonstrates this in a lot of words that would be boring to read. ]

Keeping your center of gravity steady when fighting is the most important thing. Even if you get knocked off balance, it's easy to fix.
