Support Groups! | Super Mega-Live

[People who tune in to this Live notification or people passing through the lobby today will notice that all the tables and chairs from the sitting area and kitchen have been arranged into groups or circles for people to sit at, and each table has supplies on it, like dry-erase tent cards or stacks of poster board and markers for making signs. There are also 'Hi My Name Is ___' name tags in case people feel like making introductions easier. Pink is seated on a couch with Izanagi, waving at the camera.]

Hey fellow idols--unwilling and willing!--it's been an unnervingly quiet chunka time, hasn't it? But the Christmas episodes have come 'n gone and probably a new year started at some point or another! So let's do a recap episode, or what I'm gonna call the Annual Support Group Live. Basically, I've got a simple survey question for ya: what support group could ya start? What sorts of people do ya feel empathy for 'cause ya've been through the same shit? Or what other crazy thing is more common than ya might expect? Ta answer: shout it out! or better yet, make a sign!

[Gestures to the stacks of supplies and name tags.]

There's all kinds of things people might be going through, right? This is a great opportunity to find others like you! Like, "I'm from a world without all this newfangled technology and it confuses me!" or "My world doesn't have magic at all, but everyone else has super powers and it's not fair!" Our units are important, but finding people who have gone through similar experiences can really help - it's just good self-care to make sure you have someone to talk to about your problems after all!

So come one come all! We'll be making noise down in the kitchen 'n sitting area off the lobby! There might even be spillover in the laundry room, who knows. Other units are welcome ta contribute! After all, for Lilis it's a great opportunity ta explore your feelings, and Taisho knows confession has been ritualized for centuries! I'm sure everybody's got plenty ta add ta this Mega-Live! Let's all get some bonding in while stuff's still chill!

Is that so...? I wonder why.

It's a bit odd that all of the models are so old, as well, when the city is so modern.

I assume they don't want to make it too easy for one person to overpower other people. It's not fun to watch us fight with each other if anyone can just launch a grenade and kill everyone.

... mm, that's true. I get that it's an interest of perceived fairness...

But most everyone I see here is-- absurdly strong, or inhuman in some way. There's only so many hits I can take in a one-on-one fight, you know?

At the very least no one has supernatural powers other than their unit ones. Much to their chagrin sometimes, too.

I suppose there's that.

Lilis's powers can be applied generally, in most cases, but our utility is pretty basic...

Really? You have illusions, don't you? That seems like it could be pretty powerful...

I-- ah. I haven't bought that one. I tried to focus on the most practical ones, first. But I guess-- in the right situation...?

Someone can't hit you if they can't figure out where to hit. You can totally manipulate their perception.

In all honesty I hadn't thought about it-- since we have the power that nullifies senses, deafening and blinding are my go-tos in that sort of hypothetical.

I guess that's usually good for disabling someone. But if you want to trick them into doing something in particular...

Well, I'll usually just shoot someone most of the time, too. But I've used Nightmare Vision a couple of times when I didn't actually want to hurt them.

[ a moment's hesitation, ]

Do you have times you do want to hurt people??

Most of the time if I need to stop someone, I don't care if I have to hurt them to do it.

Ah, I see. I was worried for a moment there.

No, not really. You don't have to feel... that... sort of way about it to "enjoy" it. But the idea of someone wanting to hurt people is... well, strange.

[glances over to Vergil's "I WANT TO FIGHT IN EARNEST" group]

...I don't think it's that strange.

I'm not certain people in this place are a good litmus for what is or isn't strange, to be fair.

But I don't think fighting and hurting are the same, either.

I don't think so either, but he was saying that it's not "really" fighting if you're just doing it for fun, trying to beat someone without hurting them. And there are certainly some people who enjoy the hurting part of it specifically. Or even the being-hurt part.

Then I would have a hard time believing they were a good person.

I've nothing to say for people who don't try at all-- they may do as they wish, of course-- but I think it might be pretty hard to live happily as someone who only wants to cause pain? Not to say the same for those who like being in pain, since it's really nothing I know anything about.

...I didn't say only cause pain. And I didn't say anything about being a good person, either.

[ blinks at her, brow knit. ]

I know you didn't. I was just giving my own view since we're talking about it...

And I don't see why you feel the need to judge people's moral quality, or whatever, on what they do or don't like.

[ looks mostly confused, but. ]

That isn't what I said, either, but... well, then I'll refrain from giving you my personal opinion in the future. My apologies.
