Not that you have to prove or achieve anything to pursue something, but it doesn't seem like you'd be satisfied with playing at the national level then packing it up.

No. But they haven't invented intergalactic volleyball, so you're going to have to stop at Olympics. A couple of Olympics.

I'd still feel like a slacker.

Don't know what to tell you, then. There's a slim number of people who can even consider Olympic volleyball as a possibility.
