The Game Tower elevator doors are open to receive, and close once they have you in their confines and the broadcast monitors click on. You can keep an eye on the city further and further below you, as watch with your host's introduction to today's game.

At the very least it's not Mukuro's face on the screen this time. Instead it's Exael again, pigtails bouncing as she hops up from a grand low bow— it looks like they cut part of her broadcast spiel for you guys. With a showman's flair, she twirls and splays her arms as the camera zooms out to focus on a grand mansion, more Hollywood glamor than anything belonging in Tokyo.

"Summer has come to Tokyo, and so has the season's specialty: The Trial of Courage! Step right up, and charge right in because waiting won't help you at all! Here is a place even angels fear to tread! Azzy's very own, The House of Mirth and Betrayal! This place has a sordid past that casts a shadow as long as the valley of death, and soon our Idols will be adding their own pages to the tale!"

The elevator stops atop the central tower of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building and then lurches unpleasantly, wrenching itself out of where elevators ought to go. The sudden movement jolts you, and when the doors open you spill out into into a room.

Hiryuu's body appears out of nowhere - she was barely lucid before! There was no way he could've seen it coming, but when she falls, everything else disappeared. There was no Lucifel, no Loki, no one but a daughter he'd failed to save - again.]

[Heedless of the creeping cold darkness in this pit of his soul, he bolts to catch her in his arms, leaving his back completely vulnerable to the still very alive and armed Lucifel.]

[He feels Hiryuu's weight in his arms just as the knife stabbed straight into his psyche - shattering what last vestiges of sanity he had left. Creeping cold, hot, the blood, the weight, the looming darkness devouring all thought.

Eyes hollow, he crumbles to his knees, his own torso collapsed over Hiryuu's. This shouldn't be right. This...

A festering darkness begins to creep over his body, over his skin. If he had even a shred of his mind left, he'd notice that he'd lost all feeling in his legs, and it was spreading. But all he had left was to hold her.

This cannot stand. This cannot stand.]

[ well, he's definitely moving to embrace wire, taking him into his arms even while the darkness starts creeping over his body; he murmurs, softly ]

[ his voice breaks, and he moves to kiss his lips - regardless of whether it's still flesh or if it's darkness, now. ]

[Both Wire and Hiryuu's bodies crumple to the ground as Lucifel shifts him over for that embrace. Distantly, Wire could see - as though he were only a spectator to his own death, unable to move - the other man's lips take his in one last kiss.

The darkness was creeping up his torso now, over his arms. In its wake, his skin was turned ashen, crackled and black, as though he'd been burnt up in a flame.

Too weak to speak, he couldn't even finish a last word.]

The blood from her gunshot wound soaks the ground and Nathan's hands unimpeded, and the last thing that she sees as her eyes close and the world goes away again is the the darkness, coming for him, eating him up.
