[ There's a touch of hysteria in his tone as he jolts forward.
He covers his eyes with one hand as he leans back again and sucks in deep, shuddering breaths. ]
But... in the thick of it... things stop making sense. It becomes easier and easier to just tear at what's in front of you. Easier to forget the person you're fighting... is a person. And when they stop fighting... it's easier to forget... they're more than just... meat.
And... I don't know how much of that was... the monster.
I... really don't know if that game was a very good metric to compare yourself to. Literally one hundred percent of those matches resulted in someone getting eaten. Some people were even doing it an extra-curricular fashion between rounds.
I think it might be safe to assume it wasn't just you. The game did something to our heads.
But if we know for a fact that our thoughts were messed with -- and we do -- then I don't even know if there's any way to draw meaningful conclusions from anything that happened during the game. You can only judge yourself by who you are when you're ...yourself, you know?
Well, that's a pretty good record, then. If it had to take the Producers tampering with your brain you to make you feel that way, and it was still only in the heat of the moment, you're probably doing pretty good.
Anyway, aside from him, I haven't seen anyone running around with their chest hanging out, so perma-topless might be a niche that still hasn't been filled yet, if you're considering it.

I know. I keep telling myself that. It makes sense. It probably happened to everyone. It's just the stupid Producers...
[ There's a long pause ]
But even if all that's true, how do I know that a part of me didn't take advantage of it? I don't.

Anyway, that's the only time so far.
