Where: wc dorms
When: day 507 morning
[ Good morning, zoo friends! The sun is not exactly shining today, but you're locked in your dorm!
And the newbie is curiously... not in his room? The door's unlocked, open and still unchanged.

[ Currently, he's going from place to place in the kitchen: turning on the faucet, flicking on the light switch, opening the fridge door with a delighted gasp every time. Watch him long enough and it's like he has the zoomies and is trying to make some kind of song from all the little noises from how he's going around. ]
This is amazing!
[ Please feel free to stop him at any time or he'll be doing this all day in every room without any care in the world. ]
no subject
It takes him a bit to come to the conclusion that just staring is probably a little rude ]
Welcome to Wild City.
no subject
Oh! Right - Yes, hello! This is a welcome.
[ A beat. ] I'm Elf-Boy!
[ For as confident as he says that he sure is just saying the last part of his stage name... proudly? ]
no subject
It's nice to meet you, Elf-Boy. I'm Pretzel.
If you like the kitchen, I'm sure you'll enjoy the rest of the dorms too.
no subject
Nice to meet you, Pretzel. [ He thinks a moment before waving a hand in front of his own face a bit before asking: ] So where would you recommend a guy check out next in this big place, then?
no subject
Do you know what type of things you are normally interested in?
no subject
[ He asks as much with some consideration and then looks a bit sheepish. ] I'm... not really sure?
no subject
Then, can you tell me if you have all of your memories?
no subject
[ A pause and then a slumping of his shoulders. ]
That's a no. Again.

i'm kiddingthat's managed to get in. ] ...ah. [ he chuckles, moving around him when he finally address the newbie. ]Hey there. [ he throws up a wave. ] If you think that's amazing [ motions to the light. ] there's plenty more where that came from. We have a pretty big dorm. I'm Caeli, and it's nice to meet you.
no subject
It did seem pretty big. I was just kind of following my stomach? [ and got distracted: ] Nice to meet you, Caeli! I'm Elf-Boy. So what's your favorite part of this place?
[ he says that way too proudly and moves on way too quickly for that to be his name (probably?) - ]
no subject
Is that... right... [ going to take out his phone and, ah, that explains it. ] We can pick you a new name if you like. A profile is... not something to be taken to heart. Wild City's theme is... bread, but you don't necessarily have to stick to that.
Now that sure is a loaded question, h- hahaha. I have a few people I really care about, and... there's a lot of things I've never seen before here either. If you like exploring I have a car, something I learned about [ and learned how to drive. ] while here.
no subject
[ He doesn't even balk at being wheeled around and while there's still! A fantastic gasp of delight at the fridge he fights the urge to stuff his head in just to see how cold it is. But his hand does linger a touch too long, as if seeing how cold it is exactly or getting distracted by the question. Who knows! But he'll pull out an egg. ]
Bread. Is there really different names for bread? [ he's sure there is but he just calls it bread ] Is a jelly tart bread?
Is it? I'm sorry. I just... Thought it was a good thing to ask? To know about you and this place. But mostly you.
no subject
I think you'd be surprised to see how many different kinds of breads there are. [ going to take out his phone and search hoogle for a big big BIG bread list. ] I know I was. Desserts count, I think. Korone chose one. [ ... ] Let's keep shopping. You like jelly?
Nah, you're fine. It's just a real broad question. I guess I could just go off on a tangent, haha. I can tell you what kind of things I like... that should be an easy one - fighting, cooking, fishing, sparring... [ rattles off a list that seems to alternate between murder and malewife. it's probably jarring. ]
no subject
[ peering over his shoulder. ] Desserts should definitely count! They're all doughy and gooey, they're sweet bread! [ Hmmm does he like jelly? He thinks he does. ] I know it sounds delicious?
Huh. That's a list. [ He's not too phased by 'fighting' and 'sparring' even if it distinctly feels like not him, but he doesn't really question it; ] They all kind of go together...? Do you like baking? How about sword fighting?
no subject
I don't see why not. I don't even go by a bread name. I actually chose one as an afterthought, once I realized we had a theme.
If you keep that up you're going to make me want a jelly donut instead of these eggs. [ gently pokes him with the end of a spatula. ]
Yep and yep! We'll have to find out what you like too. I'm... guessing you don't remember anything?
no subject
[ He should probably know how to cook eggs though, right? That seems normal? He'll just watch like a good student ]
So I could go by Elf-Boy then. [ He's kidding, mostly. He thinks about it ] How about Matzah? I could do a pretty good knock knock joke with that one. 'Matzah matta with you?'
[ He's just like that, but the poking just ends in a laugh ] Hey, if you want jelly donuts I won't stop you - I'll even help eat them!
[ For a moment his expression falters at the follow up question and he sighs. ] Not... really? I mean. I know things. I can still read... and I know what an egg is, obviously. But, uh, most everything else is a blank?

[He leans against the wall just inside the kitchen, watching the newbie zoom around as he explores the kitchen. He can hardly blame him. He hadn't been much different upon his own arrival, save some amount of caution from Viking life.]
no subject
[ He seems way too at ease with everything else - or maybe he's just focusing on the fun stuff. Either way he doesn't wait before pointing at an oven nuzzle: ]
Would you move that little button three times any time I make the water go whish?
no subject
[He moves over to the oven.] All right.
no subject
Come on! Isn't it amazing. The water flows in really fast! And that warms without a flame. It's like magic.
[ ....Rye's been here longer than you have, Callum. ]
no subject
Isn't it? [Listen, it's been months but its still cool!]
It's not magic though. Well, technically not, this place gets a little weird, but there's a scientific way it's done that anyone can do if they have the skills.
no subject
[ He's going back from the sink to the fridge - opens the door to the cool air as he thinks about it. ] Do they just put little tiny fires underneath and there's a lid the button takes on and off?
no subject
No, it actually uses electricity. There's a machine that can generate it and I can also explain how that works...mostly. I understand the parts at least.
But I also know if I start, it'll be hours before we get the doors unlocked. [HE KNOWS. Because that's what happened with HIM.] So we should cover the basics of where you are and get the starting tasks done.
Then I can answer all your questions. Deal?
no subject
[ But given everything else about this morning maybe that much is obvious... ]
A machine - what - [ He stops himself from continuing his line of questioning a bit sheepishly. One hand goes to the back of his neck as he glances away with a laugh: ] Um, yeah. Okay. Caeli and Pretzel have told me a bit already?
