Coincidence. We have a common habit. If we were two smokers looking for a pack or two alcoholics looking for a beer, no one would jump to these kinds of conclusions.

I don't even know for sure that we were friends. And if I have such a strong bond with him, why doesn't it go both ways?

Maybe you never made him coffee. How should I know? Either way, it doesn't seem like a reason to change what you want to do now.

Look, I understand what you're trying to tell me, but none of that matters. I can't show any weakness — my teammates circle in like sharks smelling blood on the water. I'm not going to embarrass myself in front of Boss again, either.

I'd like to think I'm a fairly agreeable person, but that doesn't mean I'm some pushover who will tolerate ridicule from others.
