[ Idols will start their day today to find red envelopes, each with their idol names, presented to them on a table at their dorm's landing. Each envelope is supernaturally sealed, incapable of being opened except by their designated recipient. Inside each envelope is a gold zan-style hairpin with stripes of silver carved into its stem, and the tip is heavy with a weighty decoration—be it a dragon, phoenix, tiger, butterfly, flower(s), or anything else, they are all inlaid with bright, glowing tiger's eye gemstones.

As ornate as they look, these hairpins aren't just for decoration: upon the recipient touching the accessory, they'll find their clothes magically changing into fanciful Chinese or fantasy Chinese clothing—perhaps vibrant red, regardless of unit, or woven patterns and colors that reflect the idol's position. At the same time, the hairpin knits itself into the idol's hair (if capable, else it pins itself as a brooch) which has also magically been done up fancifully.

Down at the lobby there are more hints toward the holiday, if the red envelope didn't already make it obvious: red streamers and paper lanterns decorate the hotel, along with tiger decorations which vary from elegant wall scrolls to cute tiger plush pillows on the lobby seats. And, if it still isn't clear enough—perchance for those who aren't familiar with the culture at all—a red and gold banners hang from the wall, reading "HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY" and "LUNAR NEW YEAR" and "YEAR OF THE TIGER".

Near the kitchen, there are tables with spreads of Chinese foods from various regions, all available in an all-you-can-eat styled buffet. And, what's more—the food seems to be completely safe! They don't contain even a little bit of status effects. For once, here's a party with safe food.

There are additionally tables with gift bags, once again labeled with each idol's name. These are not supernaturally sealed, and in each bag are . . . well. . . tiger things, along with a note that reads,

300 points per item worn for the day! Max 1,200 points (head/hands/tail/feet

Oh, right, this is an idol show. And oh, surprise, the tiger appendages (optionally) have some sort of status effect thing going on:

• Feel more cuddly/desire cuddles
  
• Feel more mercurial/contrarian
  
• Feel more possessive/territorial
  
• Feel more hungry, both for food and for immaterial things (especially attention)
  
• Feel more brave
  
• Feel more light-hearted/more easily amused

At least they're all fairly mild in effect.

Last but not least, decoration wise, there's also an ominous poster near the elevators. . . Well, who's afraid of a sign, right? . . . Nevermind that if someone were to break a taboo, they'll find themself just slightly unluckier today, on the level of breaking their shoe/sandal laces and receiving the wrong order at the café.

Outside, though the weather is cold, the sun is auspiciously bright today, warmth radiating out the city to soften the chill. Moreover, there's an infectious energy on the streets, one that would surely make a person forget the temperature—long paper puppets, taking the form of dragons and lions and tigers, parade down the street, powered by ghostly dancers and backed up by the orchestra of a marching band and fan dancers. Floating lanterns guide them throughout the city, where they'll circle around the streets ceaselessly until evening.

At the stroke of midnight, idols will find their old clothes back in their closet and their hairpins no longer glowing, but they'll also find they're able to keep the clothing they received from the hairpins. They can also keep the tiger paraphernalia, which have lost their effects. ]

[Nemesis ends up in something like this, hair done up in complicated twists pinned with golden stilettos decorated with tyrian and gold ribbon, matching the gauzy jacket over the red hanfu. For now she just looks around the transformed lobby, a little surprised]

[ From seemingly out of nowhere, Aliza snags Namesis by the arm, wearing her own occasion-appropriate attire along with a set of tiger ears and a tail. ] You look amazing.

[She is easily snagged, a flush blooming over her cheeks despite...well, not quite her best efforts, but at least an effort]

Not sure if you seen any mirrors lately, but pretty sure that's my line--if you don't mind me saying.

Guess you're enjoying the party?

[ Why help it? Aliza lives for that adorable blushing. ]

No mirrors, so I'll have to take your word for it. Or your touch, if it's on offer. [ But she's still helping herself to Nemesis's arm so that might be a little difficult. ] I haven't felt this good in days.

[She is trying to Be Cool and thought she might make it at least 30 seconds in, but alas]

Right, right. That's extra impressive, if you can't even see what you're doing when you're putting yourself together.

[A deeper blush, at the offer,]

--Yeah, seems like it. Guess you could shake some stuff into place?

[ Cool is so overrated compared to fun! ]

What, this old face? I just threw it on in the dark this morning. [ She pulls up her tiger tail and uses some flicks of her wrist to get it swaying like it might if she really had a tail. ] Maybe being a tiger agrees with me.

[ Reaching up to brush along Nemesis's cheek with the tip of that fake tail, flirt level: 5000! ]

[Part of Nemesis thinks to herself that something must be off--maybe the food is pranked after all?

The rest of her just thinks 'oh no girl hot' as she leans a little helplessly into that tail brush,]

Mmm...maybe it does. You definitely rock the tail better'n these other guys here--though that smile's the part what's really stunning.

[ Something is definitely off, but it's not making her act in ways she doesn't want to, just more apt to ignore her fears and hangups. Still, this one's gonna be sore tomorrow. ]

Then the compliments are all for you, since it's being with you that makes me smile like this.

[ Nuzzling into Nem's shoulder with perfect shamelessness ]

[Unfortunately Nemesis has not attempted any of the gift tote contents and instead is filled with all of the usual fears and hangups. Also unfortunately(?), that does not stop the weird flop in her gut at that line. Even leaning in this close, there is no pulse that Alizarin can sense, but from Nem's rather flustered expression, it is likely going a mile a minute.

So despite the incessant ping of her insecurities, Nem's arm shifts to curl around Alizarin's shoulder nevertheless, just to confirm if it feels as nice as it seems like it should,]

Well--cool. Can hang out some then, if you want.

[ She laughs, lightly. It's an absolutely delighted sound. ] I want to, yes. I missed you. [ Sure it's been all of a few days, but in no world does talking past each other and emotional retching count as spending time together. ]

There's a lot of great food, lanterns for wishing on, all sorts of things. Or, I could lead you into a dark alley and kiss you breathless. [ It's not like she wouldn't want that under normal circumstances, at least? ]

...You really are in an unbelievably good mood. No offense, but you sure you're okay?

[ Giggling again, it's incredibly cute that Nem is so concerned about this! Concerns are not allowed in this scenario! ] I'm sure! Maybe I just feel extra cute with the ears and tail.

It almost sounds like you want me to be all broody and ridiculous. I like this much better, don't you?

I mean, you are extra cute with 'em, and I ain't even a cat person. Just...you can see why I'd question stuff that's too good to be true, right?

[She gives a wry, helpless smile; squeezes at her shoulder]

...I missed you, too. It's good seeing you happy.

Not a cat person, hm? You'll have to tell me what kind of person you are, then, and I'll wear that. [ As long as it's not 'vampire', she has zero shame about clothes. ]

It's not too good to be true, it's just true. Even when I'm all in a funk I still feel this way, I just don't feel like I can show it.

[ Draping her arms around Nemesis's waist, loose and comfortable ] Give me a kiss then, and I'll stay happy as long as you like.

Nemesis flushes down to the neckline of the dress, though this time she doesn't even try to fight how she leans in closer, letting her arms rest at Aliza's hips--barely hesitates before dropping a soft kiss on Alizarin's nose]

...Well, then. Who am I to say no to a lady?

[ A victorious grin when Nem shifts around to hold her properly, and a soft, pleased sound at that nose kiss. She slides her arms around Nemesis's shoulders uses her own nose to nuzzle at Nem's face, clearly after a bit more. ]

If you're not saying no to things, I should make a list.

[Nem's face is warm as Alizarin noses in close, and Nemesis gamely kisses at her cheeks and chin, which is surely what she is asking for]

Is it really that big a deal? I barely ever said no in the first place.

[sangreine]

[ She'll take all the kisses she can get, but nope, try again~! Aliza giggles again, plainly amused by all this. ]

And yet you're hesitating. [ Fine then, she's got some patience but not early enough for more of this, whether it's intentional tease or some equivocation on Nem's part because of how things went before. She stretches up to kiss Nem on the nose, cheeks, chin, exactly the same places she was just kissed but slower, teasing, moving along until her lips brush Nem's when she speaks. ] Don't you want to kiss me properly?

But I did exactly what you asked. That ain't proper enough?

[Her eyes lid as Aliza comes in closer, sighing lightly at the slower kisses. She doesn't pull away as she speaks, grin too wide not to be teasing]

Mm...you sending me to finishing school?

[sangreine]

You're being a tease. [ She sounds delighted about it, however. Playful, she likes, but not quite as much as getting what she wants. Her eyes flutter, and when they open they're glowing a brilliant red. ] If you want to play that game, we'll need some more privacy, and you just got here.

[ Staying right where she is, someone with a more conservative definition of kissing could probably consider this entire conversation to qualify since you couldn't slide a piece of paper between them at this point, but she's still not giving up. ] Are you going to make me ask nicely?

[She flushes at that, smile deepening as well]

Oh, I'm happy to give you what you want. But if I ain't doing it right, maybe you better show me how it's done.

[sangreine]

[ So that's how it is, hm? (She's trying to figure out of this is playing or reticence, but then decides as long as it's not going on forever, it's fine either way.) Her fingertips brush the back of Nem's neck, coaxing, for all the good it'll do. ]

I like you like this. [ But not as much as other ways, a point she makes by sliding her eyes shut and vanishing that last lingering bit of space between them. ]

[ It is far from a subtle kiss, because when you go days without kissing someone the next kiss should damn well be a good one, in her opinion. ]

[No complaints on this side--no coaxing needed either. Nemesis yields easily, parting her lips to deepen the kiss--shifts her hand to the small of Aliza's back to urge her even closer]

[Which is perhaps less subtle than she'd initially planned, but the next kiss after a long stretch should be a good one...]

[ The hell with subtle, it has its uses but has no good purpose here. Aliza shifts closer, pressing as much against Nemesis as their layered clothes will allow, intent on making this good and thorough. With this place, who knows when they'll get another chance, and even if they have a thousand chances a day she'd still want to make Nem a little weak in the knees right about now. ]

[ It doesn't feel strange in the slightest, it feels like something she's needed for days. ]

[Nemesis lets Alizarin lead, happy to follow with the steady, ample fervor.
Her good hand goes to cup Aliza's face, cool as it strokes over her cheekbone.

It's nice, if such a banal word can even be used to describe something so intense. But it just is--the softness of lips and chest and skin under her fingers, the strength coiled beneath, currently for some ridiculous reason solely directed at her... She makes a soft sound into the kiss, shivering in place]
