[ Idols will start their day today to find red envelopes, each with their idol names, presented to them on a table at their dorm's landing. Each envelope is supernaturally sealed, incapable of being opened except by their designated recipient. Inside each envelope is a gold zan-style hairpin with stripes of silver carved into its stem, and the tip is heavy with a weighty decoration—be it a dragon, phoenix, tiger, butterfly, flower(s), or anything else, they are all inlaid with bright, glowing tiger's eye gemstones.

As ornate as they look, these hairpins aren't just for decoration: upon the recipient touching the accessory, they'll find their clothes magically changing into fanciful Chinese or fantasy Chinese clothing—perhaps vibrant red, regardless of unit, or woven patterns and colors that reflect the idol's position. At the same time, the hairpin knits itself into the idol's hair (if capable, else it pins itself as a brooch) which has also magically been done up fancifully.

Down at the lobby there are more hints toward the holiday, if the red envelope didn't already make it obvious: red streamers and paper lanterns decorate the hotel, along with tiger decorations which vary from elegant wall scrolls to cute tiger plush pillows on the lobby seats. And, if it still isn't clear enough—perchance for those who aren't familiar with the culture at all—a red and gold banners hang from the wall, reading "HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY" and "LUNAR NEW YEAR" and "YEAR OF THE TIGER".

Near the kitchen, there are tables with spreads of Chinese foods from various regions, all available in an all-you-can-eat styled buffet. And, what's more—the food seems to be completely safe! They don't contain even a little bit of status effects. For once, here's a party with safe food.

There are additionally tables with gift bags, once again labeled with each idol's name. These are not supernaturally sealed, and in each bag are . . . well. . . tiger things, along with a note that reads,

300 points per item worn for the day! Max 1,200 points (head/hands/tail/feet

Oh, right, this is an idol show. And oh, surprise, the tiger appendages (optionally) have some sort of status effect thing going on:

• Feel more cuddly/desire cuddles
  
• Feel more mercurial/contrarian
  
• Feel more possessive/territorial
  
• Feel more hungry, both for food and for immaterial things (especially attention)
  
• Feel more brave
  
• Feel more light-hearted/more easily amused

At least they're all fairly mild in effect.

Last but not least, decoration wise, there's also an ominous poster near the elevators. . . Well, who's afraid of a sign, right? . . . Nevermind that if someone were to break a taboo, they'll find themself just slightly unluckier today, on the level of breaking their shoe/sandal laces and receiving the wrong order at the café.

Outside, though the weather is cold, the sun is auspiciously bright today, warmth radiating out the city to soften the chill. Moreover, there's an infectious energy on the streets, one that would surely make a person forget the temperature—long paper puppets, taking the form of dragons and lions and tigers, parade down the street, powered by ghostly dancers and backed up by the orchestra of a marching band and fan dancers. Floating lanterns guide them throughout the city, where they'll circle around the streets ceaselessly until evening.

At the stroke of midnight, idols will find their old clothes back in their closet and their hairpins no longer glowing, but they'll also find they're able to keep the clothing they received from the hairpins. They can also keep the tiger paraphernalia, which have lost their effects. ]

I'm not counting on it being easy, but that's why it sounds like fun. If nothing else, the attempts will be worthwhile.

[ No problem with her kissing along all that skin in this very public place, right? Not that she's asking first (but if stopped, she'll behave. probably). ]

[ Of course not. Though he does nothing to escalate, either, content to draw three fingers up and down the nape of her neck while she does that. ]

And we're both quite long-lived, too . . . hmmm, this might be quite the longterm mission.

[ Probably better that he doesn't, she is a bottomless pit of touch right now (as opposed to usually, when she is still a bottomless pit but has some degree of restraint). ]

A sacrifice I'm willing to make. [ Pausing to lift her head and lean into those fingers, grinning at him. ] Tu as de si bonnes mains. [ Based on the other night, he might catch that she complimented his hands. ]

Goodness, that really is an effective language for romance, isn't it?

[ Taking one of her hands to press a chaste little kiss against the back of it ]

Such flattery will get you everywhere, of course.

It's the prettiest of all the languages I know. Although a few come fairly close. [ Giggling sweetly at that little hand kiss, and using her free hand to stroke through his hair. ] Just think how unstoppable you'll be once you master it.

I think so. It's not so obvious which is my primary language, but some of my profile in in French so I presume it's my native tongue. I speak five languages fluently, several more conversationally, and a smattering of others. I supposed I'm well traveled.

[ Idly nibbling on the tip of his ear in between sentences ] It does make pretty songs... [ She sings a few bars of La Vie En Rose to demonstrate. ]

[ Shivering a little since the singing is no doubt happening right next to his ear ]

A beautiful language, a beautiful song, and a beautiful voice . . .

[ Oh it definitely is, and she notices that shiver, is music an actual kink for you sir? Because if anything could convince her to sing... ]

I have to keep you interested somehow. [ She doesn't have her memories, but he has thousands of years of them and she won't accept not standing out in some way. ]

[ If music isn't, warm breath on a sensitive ear certainly is. ]

Oh? Worried that I'm fickle?

[ Well she laughs (quietly) right against his ear too, so let's test that. ]

Not worried, but I imagine you have a plethora of wonderful options. And I don't mind sharing, but I also don't like the idea of being forgettable.

[ Another little shiver, but then a laugh. ]

Well, you won't need to worry about that! I've never forgotten a friend. Never.

[ She goes still for just a beat, thinking of who she's forgotten; she must have had family wherever she's from, friends, lovers. What does it say that they were so easily taken from her? ]

[ But her mood isn't so easily brought down tonight, thankfully. She goes back to petting his hair, nosing below his ear. ] That's reassuring... but challenging me to be more memorable might be productive.

[ Teasingly trailing his fingers along the bumps of her spine, just below her nape. ]

Dear Ali-Rin . . . though my memory is indeed unbiased, I never said I don't pick favorites.

Oh~? [ She huffs a laugh against his neck; she wouldn't dare presume she's one of them, buuuuut ] It'll be good for me to have a goal. Keep me out of all trouble but the fun kind.

Something tells me I'll benefit from the efforts, so . . . seems like a win-win to me. ♪

I have to offer you some motivation to keep putting up with me invading your bed all the time. If I have to go back to sleeping by myself I'll be a disaster. Thankfully I've acquired enough sleepover-friendly bedmates that I won't put too much undue strain on any one of you.

You always say that as if it's some hardship. I'd much rather a crowded bed than a forever empty one.

[ Pausing for just a beat, hmm ]

If you're offering to let me monopolize more of your nights, I'm not going to turn that down. Loneliness must be one of the worst things to exist, I wouldn't want to inflict it on anyone.

[ Reaching out to gently bop her nose in reprimand ]

You wouldn't be inflicting anything. That's the work of time, longevity, and circumstance.

Fair enough. But if I can do anything to help hold it off...

There's only so much one person can do, I know -- not as well as you do, I'm sure, but I understand a little. If there's anything more I can do to ease it, consider this an open offer. Just don't wait until it gets bad, okay?

[ (This is the beginning of her avoiding sleeping in her dorm for a while.) ]
