[It’s the lobby, there’s like, not much special going on, but Vergil is in a big robe and pointy hat and false beard obscuring himself as much as possible. The massive size of the beard helps muffle his voice a bit too. Marnie is just hanging out nursing a drink, basically. Cosmo has set up a table of drinks.]

Good morning/afternoon/evening, please set all cellular devices to silent during the ceremony or they will be confiscated. ...Good enough? [HE IS SO UNCOMFORTABLE the disguise was not enough.]

Marriage! Fuckin' cute, right? Choosing someone to be bound to for life! Ain't nothin' more romantic, if you're into it! And if you're not, well, we're just fuckin' around, so no worries there. But we've got a theme to pander to, so let's have some fun!

And with all that said, anyone who comes by now can marry one of these three eligible* bachelors**! Just point at your choice and the other two will see the wedding done… Somehow or other. Personally I recommend Ligrev, a serious older gentleman with a distinguished aura. Then again, if eye-candy is your thing you can’t beat Marnie. Naturally I, Cosmo, am a catch.

Of course you can bring your own bride or groom if you like, too.

Where I'm from, I couldn't really marry them. Because we are all male, and because there are more than two of us. I do like the idea of it, though.

I suppose it is. That's how things are, though. When people don't know how things work, they try to find out what is 'right' or 'wrong', and sometimes they miss the mark. Things were getting better, though! It is just hard to get everyone to agree.

I imagine that every group of people is liable to have some things wrong. None of us are correct all of the time about everything.

...In some ways. If you are part of that group, it'd be nice, but if you were on the outside, quite insufferable. Do you think it's even possible? To be objectively correct on morality and such?

Theoretically. You'd need a very enlightened and peaceful society though.

Fufufu. Theoretically anything is possible, isn't it? Realistically, you could only have something like that in a vacuum. Far away from the eyes of others, kept secret. And the moment anyone thought and differently... Well.

It's hard to imagine people giving up enough individuality for them to never explore other options.

Do you think individuality is the problem?

I think... yes and no. On the one hand- individuality will bar any society from being truly 'enlightened', completely. On the other hand, if you are without your individuality, are you truly living? To be just one part of a hive mind doesn't feel like you are even you anymore. You're just a cell in the body of a larger organism, and while some may be happy to be that, to contribute to that, I couldn't do it.

And also, the idea of 'objective' morality is hard. It means you need to remove from society the idea of 'goals', of 'wishes' to prevent there being any that conflict. Remove traditions and history, remove culture. Is it worth it?

I'm not sure is agree on any of those points.

I think individuality is important for a healthy society, or how will it grow? Rather than that, I believe it's fear that should be feared. Including the fear of exclusion. So individuality would need to be a carefully balanced thing.

As for the rest, objective morality could be had with the consensus of rationally discussed subjective views.

Of course people would need to be quite a bit gentler and kinder and more patient, but this is our theorectically enlightened society, so why not?

If you're already right everywhere, what more growth is there?

Coming to a consensus doesn't necessarily mean everyone agrees, though. It is easy to say "let's just take out the fear of exclusion" or "everyone talk to objectively the most moral decision rationally", but it is not as easy to do such a thing.

I just can't see it working out and not being extremely oppressive. Certainly, it would be nice, but it may just be far too alien for me to understand.

It is hard to imagine. People would have to be quite a bit different than my experience of them thus far. But perhaps one day better natures will be common.

It'd be too depressing to imagine mankind can't evolve. If individuals can grow, surely, society also can. It may just take more lifetimes than I can contemplate.

[Eichi shrugs, smiling. Mankind is made of bloodshed. He doesn't believe they can all be saved, but that's okay. He thinks if he keeps needling Cosmo he might blow his cover.]

[He pauses, having to think on that. He'd never had to think about it before.]

Hmmm... Something... in summer or spring. Outside, where fragrant flowers are in bloom. It should be a party- the whole thing. I know that there is an emphasis on ceremony, but I want... people there to feel joy, and for them to feel comfortable expressing it.

My vows might go on for a long time too, so people should be able to eat and drink at the ceremony too. I am not very good a thinking of the specifics right now though. Maybe Tenn or Wataru would have more thoughts, though.

That sounds quite lovely. I imagine specifics are the sort of thing you come to after a lot of thought and planning. Just having a direction to go towards is already good.

Of course! And maybe they wouldn't like that. I don't know. My true 'ideal' is simply to be tied forever to people I love and who love me.
