[It's dawn of the first day with three new kids, guys. You can imagine the sound of your impending doom in high-energy orchestral music or cutesy, boy band pop.]

[ yugi has bought a bunch of stuff from the points shop to make a big breakfast for all of their newbies. he’s tried to cover his bases with what he’s gotten. something for everyone…! or so he hopes. ]

[ the kitchen is a bit of a mess when he’s finished, but with help from both nova and wednesday he’s able to finish and bring all of the food to the table. ]

[Nova was glad to be a part of the cooking today. She wanted their new unit mate to feel as welcome as the others made her feel. The only problem now was whether to clean first or eat.]

Everything looks amazing. I'm really glad we could all do this together.

[Eating breakfast together, being able to enjoy one another's company. It was nice.]

Me too! I think we should cook more often together.

[ eating as a unit sometimes just kind of feels like the right thing to do... not to mention it could be a weekly bonding experience where they can share this and that. let off some steam or tell the others a few highlights. ]

I can clean up after we eat, but we certainly don't want it getting cold, right?

I think it would be fun to do this more often! I like cooking, so I wouldn't mind helping.

[A bonding experience could only be good for them, to offset some of the awfulness of games.]

I think so too. We could even learn new recipes together. [ he smiles down at his breakfast. ] I would definitely like that though... things have been pretty rough lately, and not just because of the games... [ losing a bunch of them teammates was terrible too. ]

Yeah? Then we'll be done in no time!

Mm. I think doing little things like breakfast together might make it easier. Or harder, depending on how you look at it I guess. I'm glad that we have the people we do on our unit, even if losing them someday will be sad. I want to treasure them and the memories we all make with one another. Does that make sense?

[She picks at her breakfast a little somberly, but still tries to smile.]

I think we're all having a hard time lately, and I want to be able to do small things like this to make it easier for everyone.

It makes perfect sense. [ he offers her a smile. ] I'd like to do more things as a unit too, so we can make more good memories, so if and when the time comes... we can remember each other fondly.

Then it's settled. We'll do breakfast together every few days. Maybe everybody can offer up suggestions and we'll do our best to accommodate. That way everybody's involved to a degree.

Ah-!! This is going to be so exciting! We could put it to a vote every week so that everyone has a chance to have their favorite dish or to try something new.

[She's actually legitimately excited?? Of course while this is going on she may have been neglecting her own meal. Oops.]

Yeah. We have a chalkboard in the main room, so maybe we can have everybody fill in a dish and then vote, so by the end of the week have something to make. And we'll get to learn more about each other that way.

[ he hasn't really been paying much mind to his own meal either, though when he looks back down his stomach grumbles, because, ok, maybe his body has forgotten. he's going to dig in to some waffles. ]

Maybe we can go to the library later and take out some cookbooks.

[Nova takes a moment to dig into her own food, nodding as he speaks and she eats.]

Mm! I wonder what everyone else likes to eat.

[She's definitely a fan of the waffles, even if blood is more sustaining of her kind.]

Oh! The library- I don't think I've really gotten a chance to look at any of the books there yet. I admit having breakfast with everyone is a good way to get me out of my room a bit.

[She giggles a bit and takes another bite of her food.]

How about we head to the library after this? We can get a bunch of different cookbooks and bring them back here and photocopy the recipes. Make our own cookbook! And we can poll everybody [ lol. ] and see what kind of food they like!

[ going to munch on his waffles too, which he finishes rather quickly. he was more hungry than he thought. ]

It certainly is, and you are most welcome. There are the rations, but do you prefer to prepare most meals yourself?

I haven't really prepared a lot of food, because the grocery store is actually kind of new, so if we wanted anything besides the rations we had to buy it, which as you can imagine got expensive. Now that we have the story I've been trying to learn more, since it's most definitely better than eating what they give us.

I see. Well, whatever you may require, please let me know. I may not be able to support your work in the kitchen, but I am always willing to provide materials and support. If ever you need something from the store, I would be glad to fetch it.

Sure! If we all pitch in, then we'll have no problems accomplishing anything. And one of our abilities actually helps out a lot with that. It's called Quick as a Wink. I don't know if you had a chance to look at our abilities yet, but that one comes in handy all the time.
