Re: Protection Plan
I'd rather protect others than myself. I'm not crazy about dying. But if it's just me... I'm all right with taking the fall so that others don't have to.
[ Hence, Rain's existence and eternal animosity toward Sunshine. ]
Re: Protection Plan
So it sounds like you don't don't care about fighting to survive, yourself, so much as you care about making sure that everyone's wishes are represented and supported in games, as much as possible.
Does that sound about right?

Re: Protection Plan
I'd prefer not to commit to doing that 100% of the time, though. I'd like us to have some flexibility about targets, when we can, since these games are all so different every time.

Re: Protection Plan
[Rubs his arm, looking uncomfortable]
I mean... I do worry that asking other units to play rougher with us might make things a lot more difficult overall. Those of us who want to survive may die more. And those who don't want to hit others will be forced to hit others more on the occasions we want to survive. So I think it may take away a lot of our ability to compromise...
Re: Protection Plan
I don't want us to always crash to save others when that mentality seems to make some of us like Dawn think there's something wrong with not wanting to sacrifice yourself. I don't like dying. It sucks. I'm willing to suck it up if there's no other choice. But I'm not here advocating that it's the more noble option. All I want is people to feel like they have some control over their decision so they can feel like they did the best they could. If they want to protect their friends or if they want to protect Pep.
Re: Protection Plan
Is the idea to ask people to fight us so that, on the occasion when we want to survive, we can fight as hard as we want? And on the occasions when we don't want to harm others, we give up and die?
Re: Protection Plan
Re: Protection Plan
But not everyone in our unit -- now, or possibly in the future -- is (or will be) okay with the idea of dying. So for their sake, isn't it better not to make this more dangerous for them?
I'm not sure how I feel about telling other units we don't mind being hit if some of us, in fact, do mind.
Re: Protection Plan
I would love to be able to just decide everything during the game itself, but that's what's got people uncomfortable lately. We need some basis consensus. So I'm pitching we don't stick to extremes, always one way or the other. That we have a general understanding that we play based on situation and people's comfort levels. People just need to be aware they have options for either, if they want to speak up. I think that's the best we're going to get.
