Go Fish: Trauma Edition
Who: Naughty little fishes
Where: Game Tower
When: Day 527
[So there you are, minding your own business on a completely normal day.]
[Then you blink —
[— and find yourself, and many other idols, in an unfamiliar room.]
[The room is large and round and made of glass, like a globe. ...No, like a fish bowl.]
[On the other side of the glass walls, you can see indistinct shapes moving around, but the glass distorts the light so much that anything farther than arm’s length is just vague smears of colors and shadow blending with your own reflection. But something is there. Possibly a lot of somethings. ]
[Two formless shapes approach the glass, and as they do, their images resolve into the shapes of a pair of twins, one grinning while the other pointedly looks away from his brother. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the one who actually looks cheerful about being here is the first to speak up:]
Guess what~? You’ve been chosen to play in our very first game. Isn’t that exciting?
[He throws his arms out theatrically.]
Especially after soooo many boring games. The audience is looking for excitement and thrills here! Why not take the chance to really cement yourself as the fan favorite while you have the chance? Heck, it might even fix your little... “problem.”
[There’s a beat of silence, and he moves to elbow his brother who shoots him a “hey what the hell?” look before reluctantly facing the gathered idols.]
...Make sure you protect yourselves. Otherwise...
[He just lets the thought trail off before looking away again. His brother leans on him, resting an elbow on his shoulder as though waiting for him to continue before finally giving up and shaking his head with a sigh.]
You heard him! Give this game all you’ve got - got it?

Then, let this realm provide the opportunity to seize those desires you were denied in youth. Especially those that are so simple, yet so vital.
Although one is certain you have others whose company you would enjoy, you are welcome to stay by one's side as long as you wish.

And, despite the loneliness and cruelty you have endured, you remain gentle, and concerned for the welfare of others. That is a sign of enormous strength of character.
Although one has not seen your work, the fact that you pursue a craft that sees you bringing new creations into this world by your own two hands demonstrates malleability of the mind, dexterity of the hand, ability to learn, and a willingness to seek solutions to novel problems.
Furthermore, you are a pleasant partner in conversation. And you seek guidance from the one-- ...er. From those with different experiences. This shows both humility and good judgement.
It is no small commendation to say that these are qualities one seeks in a disciple.

Let us return a few steps to a previous subject -- the topic of disciplehood.
Is that a title you should like to adopt?
One has trained many in the ways of cultivation over the centuries, but it seems that one's adeptal arts have been nullified in this realm, to one's deep and unrelenting vexation. Until this morning, one has not even been capable of flight, which is not even an adeptal art at all. It is simply physics! And yet!
...Ahem. Which is to say. Even if one were to "take you under one's wing" in a more figurative sense, one might not be able to teach you much beyond the foundations, and, with strenuous effort, that would only keep us occupied for but a decade or two.
Despite these limitations, one shall warn you that one is a demanding and rigorous master. To be one's disciple in the ways of the adepti, you shall have to adhere to a strict diet of naught but morning dew and medicinal herbs, and exercise both body and mind all days and all nights, oft in long stretches of solitude.
One has witnessed your character and would be open to the possibility of taking you as one's disciple, should that be a lifestyle you wish to pursue.

I have plans for when I graduate anyway. I want to be a game runner and run games that players like, instead of games like this.
