[So there you are, minding your own business on a completely normal day.]

[Then you blink —

[— and find yourself, and many other idols, in an unfamiliar room.]

[The room is large and round and made of glass, like a globe. ...No, like a fish bowl.]

[On the other side of the glass walls, you can see indistinct shapes moving around, but the glass distorts the light so much that anything farther than arm’s length is just vague smears of colors and shadow blending with your own reflection. But something is there. Possibly a lot of somethings. ]

[Two formless shapes approach the glass, and as they do, their images resolve into the shapes of a pair of twins, one grinning while the other pointedly looks away from his brother. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the one who actually looks cheerful about being here is the first to speak up:]

Guess what~? You’ve been chosen to play in our very first game. Isn’t that exciting?

[He throws his arms out theatrically.]

Especially after soooo many boring games. The audience is looking for excitement and thrills here! Why not take the chance to really cement yourself as the fan favorite while you have the chance? Heck, it might even fix your little... “problem.”

[There’s a beat of silence, and he moves to elbow his brother who shoots him a “hey what the hell?” look before reluctantly facing the gathered idols.]

...Make sure you protect yourselves. Otherwise...

[He just lets the thought trail off before looking away again. His brother leans on him, resting an elbow on his shoulder as though waiting for him to continue before finally giving up and shaking his head with a sigh.]

You heard him! Give this game all you’ve got - got it?

[She is both healer (temporary) and gardener (full time) so like uh. Yes, hello.]

[ she is perfect then! because he needs both a trimming and a healing… possibly in that order. he’s trying to keep from screaming, but he’s definitely vibrating out of his ~~skin~~ bark. ]

[Persicaria nods sharply and reaches out with a gentle hand.]

Here-- let me take care of the pain first. It's just a numbing effect but I hope it'll make everything else a little more bearable...

[ it does help. he might not be able to die because of heroes never die, but that doesn’t mean he’s not in excruciating pain. he shuts his eyes, trying not to cry, because he’s incredibly thankful for the relief. hopefully all of these roots and branches can be done away with… because they’re still obstructing plenty. ]

[That's her next goal-- she starts removing the worst of the roots first.]

It's okay-- it's going to be okay~ But if it's difficult you can close your eyes or look away.

[ coughs up some leaves and a few small bloody branches. he shuts his eyes and just... lets her work, eventually wheezing once he's able to breath completely unobstructed. ] F- Fuck. [ he's hoarse. ]

[after being revived and healed, will probably settle down next to him.]

[ he's going to start sobbing as soon as persephone sits down beside him. this has been the worst fucken week of his life. ] I fucken hate this place! [ he's hoarse, so it might be hard to hear him. ]

[will reach out to hug him, awkwardly, if Alala will allow it.]

[ going to turn toward him and hide against his chest as he continues to sob. ]

[his clothes are unfortunately soaked, but going to throw the lilis white sweater he was wearing over them, so the camera gets even less view of Alala as he cries. not today, fans, not today.]

[ he appreciates that. he feels like he can't keep it together recently. ] ...can we, [ sniffles, trying to curb the crying, but failing miserably. ] can we go back home?

Of course. [tries not to cough up flower petals.]

How are you holding out?

I, ah, have been...worse.

[coughing up flowers.] ...but also, ah, better.

...that seems kind of... real bad. [ he looks at some of the flower petals. ]
