If you're REALLY sure it won't matter...
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] You see; I've actually)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-03 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Sure I'm sure. C'mon.

[Heading over to the kitchen to begin pulling out veggies.]

[Well now that Nyx is here in the kitchen standing around awkwardly and watching the vegetables in question come out he's starting to get Nervous. Like, visibly. One boy has Issues, okay.]

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-03 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fine.

[Said maybe a little too quickly, but he's said it enough times today that he can't go back on it NOW.]
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] Dive; a dive)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-03 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
...Alright. How about you help me wash these, first?
shatteredhourglass: (〇25)

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-04 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
O...k. Just with water in the sink, right?

[It bears confirming, apparently.]
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] and erase away)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-04 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. And once you're finished washing them, set them on the counter here and I can start cutting up pieces as examples.

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-04 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
M, mm, ok...

[Nyx will be unfortunately slow about it since he's being overly careful not to leave even a speck of dirt on these vegetables or, horror of horrors, drop them in the sink which is clearly dirty and will TAINT THEM FOREVER and he can't have his unitmates consuming such a thing. Not to mention the risk of losing them down the sink!! (*They're not small enough for that probably)]
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] too much)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-04 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Izanagi just smiles patiently as he works his way through it, prepping other tools and pieces while waiting.]

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-06 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[EVENTUALLY, they're all washed. Eventually. Nyx looks a little relieved, though not completely since he's not out of the woods yet.]

D... do we need to dry them off or anything, first?
bondsofsuffering: ([Question] So let's disprove the)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-06 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, not for this recipe. We're going to be putting it into soup stock anyway.

We'll need to peel the potatoes, though. Do you want me to show you?
shatteredhourglass: (〇23)

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-07 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[DEFINITELY show him. Please show him.]
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] until the day we die)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-07 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[He'll take one and get out the peeler.]

Some people try to get fancy about it and peel it all off in one long strip, but you don't really have to. Just try not to whittle it down too much if you can, but even if you do, it isn't a big worry. We have lots of ingredients and the recipe's pretty forgiving.

[He'll peel a potato, pausing every now and then to point out how to avoid overpeeling.]

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-07 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
O... ok.

...

Are you sure it's ok even if I shave off too much.

[NERVES. Amazing how one boy can be so full of bees over potatoes when he regularly peels mutilated bodies off the floor of the game tower.]
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] speak keep washing)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-08 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
100% sure! I'll keep an eye on things too, so if it does look like you're having trouble, I can show you again.

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-08 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
..........................ok

[;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Thus commences the slowest and most careful potato peeling to have ever occurred, as if even a bit of excess "meat" getting shaved off is an offense to the universe.]
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] and erase away)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-08 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[He'll prep some of the more complicated foods, shape-wise, but he's careful to keep an eye on Nyx and give him pointers to avoid peeling too much too.

This is a kitchen of learning!!
]

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-09 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[It's a kitchen of ANXIETY. If Nyx didn't look appropriately exhausted for being fresh out of a trauma game earlier he is definitely getting there.
At least the potatoes are also getting there. FINALLY, FINALLY.................. potatoes are peeled and Nyx is washing the peeler off so he doesn't have to look at them and Regret every bit of overly shaved vegetable.]
bondsofsuffering: ([Surprise] all the answеrs)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-09 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Picking one up and examining it.]

Wow, these are really clean for a first try. Thanks, Nyx!
shatteredhourglass: (〇25)

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-09 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
...mm. [# DOUBT. Poor Izanagi.] Did- you already finish the other ones?
bondsofsuffering: ([Excite] Living blindly)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-09 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'm an old hand at this kind of thing, so I'm pretty quick now.

Want to learn how to cut up the potatoes next?
shatteredhourglass: (〇23)

[personal profile] shatteredhourglass 2022-03-09 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Is it different from cutting up other things??
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] and erase away)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2022-03-09 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. We just want the pieces to be more or less the same size, like...

[He'll take the same potato and cut it up to demonstrate.]

Around that size. Cooking isn't a precise art, and this recipe's pretty forgiving, but it's better if they're all similarly sized so they cook at the same speed.
