[ she trails off, looking at his arm, then slowly takes it and stands up. ] I guess I am pretty tired. That seems strange.

Is that strange? [ It is incredibly strange, this woman barely sleeps. ]

[ Tugging her back toward the hotel. ]

Maybe.

But there are all kinds of "tired." Even someone who never needs to sleep will grow tired now and then. Especially in a place like this.

I guess so. [ She doesn't think that sounds right, but can't decide on why not. So she lets herself be tugged along. ]

But I won't be very good company if I'm too tired. [ A beat ] Will I?

[ She looks very distantly surprised, then possibly concerned?, but finally looks down. ]

I try to be. It's the least I can do.

[ Tugging her into the elevator and surreptitiously hitting a button, then casually leaning back against the control panel. ]

You've done a good job, then! I've never regretted time spent with you. Not even if it's drunk or sleepy company.

Yes. I don't want to sleep in there.

[ But they're not though, right? She uses her phone to unlock the door. ]

I do like the rainy sky better . . .

[ Nudging her in that direction once they're in.

Fortunately, being anywhere within the dorm is sufficient. ]

I didn't realize you had such strong feelings about your own room.

I didn't. It was lonely, that's all. But then something happened that I don't want to think about.

Besides, I have other places where I need to be -- wait, no. [ She thinks for a second. ] Other places I should be... or could be.

[ She manages a little smile, a sad imitation of her usual exuberance. ]

[ Shoving her over onto a pillow pile and proceeding to bury her in MORE pillows ]
