[Cosmo is rocking a look. Minus the plague mask, it's just his normal mask. He's got a set of fruity drinks in front of him, and he's leaning back with a drink in hand.]

"Risk" and "Reward".

Half of these drinks are non-alcoholic, most of the rest are quite potently alcoholic, a few are drugged.

The risk is obvious, the reward is engaging in the live. Or perhaps in avoiding the traps.

The drugs are one of three kinds--a potent psychedelic, a numbing agent, and something to get you a little hot under the collar. Do take it elsewhere if you get that last one.

[He sips his drink.]

Of course some say the best way to win at gambling is not to play, but where's the fun in that?

No. He’s mentioned him a couple of times, but I haven’t really asked for details.

Do you know what primals are, then? It will be difficult to explain otherwise.

Zodiark is a primal, right?

Indeed. The first and most powerful of all primals, born from our people's prayers for salvation.

Are all of the primals like that? Born of prayers?

Yes. They are aether given form and purpose by the faith of men, powerful beyond anything we could achieve ourselves. Zodiark more so than any other.

Because of our monumental need, it was decided that He would be created with a living individual as His Heart - to give greater focus to His will. I was the one determined to be most suited for that task.

...ah, [ HM. ] so you're kind of both yourself and Zodiark? [ ... ] And because of that you have trouble remembering things? How does that feel? Having someone else inside of you?

That is not entirely correct. I separated myself from Zodiark and became just myself again.

I must be missing something then... did that mess with your head and your memories?

...While He and I are no longer one and the same, I am still functionally an extension of His being. Like a primal, I continue to be sustained and empowered by the faith of those around me.

And, like a primal, I am influenced by that faith.

...so are Lahabrea and Emet-Selch keeping you... you? Or is the fans? since I can't imagine anybody from back home beyond those here could have any effect, since they're... I'm not even sure, to be honest. [ this place doesn't make all that much sense to him honestly. ]

Ah, no. I was not speaking of this place. Since my arrival, it does not seem I am taking in enough faith for it to affect my memory.

There is something called erosion back home, that robs people of their memories, so slowly they lose themselves to time.

[ sets a hand on his shoulder. ] I don't know how it works on your star, but I do know all of your ancients have lived a long time... I don't want to see that happen to any of you if there's something can be done. It's bad enough I have to worry about certain individuals from my own star.
