I wonder if they'd tell someone who they'd want us to protect, if we asked now? I don't want anyone here to feel like they can't say anything, just because I get upset and - well, I suppose Ren-chan also gets upset.

There is no harm in asking, though I would not hope for an answer. If the idea is to end a game content with your decisions as much you truly have any, then avoiding conflict could be something that somewhat satisfies.

I suppose not. I - I just, I hate to think we're always talking over them. Just because they're not saying they don't want something... that doesn't mean they won't get hurt if we do it, does it?

They may and likely have. Probably more often than you and I are able to realize. We are not able to read their minds, however. The best we can do is give them as much opportunity as possible.
