[ You’re in a garden. It’s lush, beautiful, and almost too wild with growth to quite merit the term “garden.” There are fruit trees here, their trunks twisted and knobbled with age, their branches still low enough to easily reach. The ground is carpeted with colorful wildflowers, and flowering vines and wild roses twine around trees and golden trellises alike.

In the center of this roughly circular area is a broken-down stone fountain. The water sits stagnant, and nothing remains of the fountain’s design except a basin and the shattered base of a once-golden sculpture.

The light here is twilit—or just kind of dim, if you want to be less romantic about it. Looking overhead, it’s easy to see why: actually, the sky isn’t visible from this place at all. Instead, there’s a dense canopy of branches forming an almost perfect dome.

How did you get here?
The last thing you vaguely recall is a sudden fit of drowsiness. There’s no sign of any guide or host around, and your powers don’t currently work either.

Maybe, based on all the other idols here, it’s some kind of game…? ]

[pulls a mini bottle of water from her pocket]

H- Hah. I just hate these waiting games. Like, c'mon, we all know something bad is going to happen, so... let's just get it over with. [ awkward laughter. ]

[coming over to give her the water and squeeze her shoulder]

And it still leaves enough time for talks to go in strange directions.

[Despite that she comes over and gives her a brief, tight hug.]

It's going to take more than a few stabs to keep me down! and I'm just checking them out, I haven't thrown myself into them y- oof.

[ smiles, returning the hug and giving her a pat. ]

[ it's fine. it'll help. she's kind of a mess on the inside. on the outside she's doing her best to act like she's a-ok, but... it's hard. ]

But these guys've never been much for originality.

[ Has D.va been sufficiently distracted by the tackle? Or will she be resuming exploring?

Her heartbeat feels louder in her chest than it has since... well. ]

[ she is going to resume exploring! and she still has an interest in the thorns. can this wall reeeeally be impenetrable? ]

[ as she contemplates this her own heartbeat startles her, sounding in her chest and ringing in her head. immediately she starts looking around. ]

At least... not in any way you can tell? There's just the whisper of a feeling.

As for the brambles, they're a normal garden green at their bases, but the more they grow and tangle together, the darker their color gets. In some places they're such a deep, unreflective black that they almost look flat. Their branches weave together so densely that they might as well be a solid wall, and the thorns are as long as your hand. ]

[ she's going to whisper her name under her breath to see if she calls back at all. the fact that she can feel her but not see her is worrying. ]

[ is it possible to climb them? pain be damned. ]
