[ The GAME ALERT and map show on the screen of your phones— idols, you know what to do!

The Game Tower elevator doors are open to receive, and close once they have you in their confines and the broadcast monitors click on. You can keep an eye on the city further and further below you, as watch with your host's introduction to today's game.

At the very least it's not Mukuro's face on the screen this time. Instead it's Exael again, pigtails bouncing as she hops up from a grand low bow— it looks like they cut part of her broadcast spiel for you guys. With a showman's flair, she twirls and splays her arms as the camera zooms out to focus on a grand mansion, more Hollywood glamor than anything belonging in Tokyo.

"Summer has come to Tokyo, and so has the season's specialty: The Trial of Courage! Step right up, and charge right in because waiting won't help you at all! Here is a place even angels fear to tread! Azzy's very own, The House of Mirth and Betrayal! This place has a sordid past that casts a shadow as long as the valley of death, and soon our Idols will be adding their own pages to the tale!"

The elevator stops atop the central tower of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building and then lurches unpleasantly, wrenching itself out of where elevators ought to go. The sudden movement jolts you, and when the doors open you spill out into into a room.

Hopefully, with not too much time missing. ]

[she wonders if perhaps they have different ideas of what 'deal with' is, here. either way, her voice is sharp]

I'm reasonably certain. I was working for the creep who had him arrested, in whatever capacity...

[pauses]

I can't imagine. Even if sound gets through somehow, I doubt it would be comprehensible if time is really that messed up.

Do you think we could tell him something...?

[which is surely why he was asking and not making sure they weren't having this conversation where Boss could hear]

Hm. If you wrote something backwards on the mirror, he might be able to read it.

...Yeah...

[she trails off trying to think of anything she could write on the mirror that would be worthwhile for someone trapped for a hundred years]

[hesitates, less because he doesn't know what to say and more because he's not sure why he's even bothering to help]

Tell him whatever you want. I'm sure he'll be happy for the reminder you're still out here thinking about him.

[but she rises, glancing around for something to write on the mirror with that's not... blood...]

I'll pass on that. There isn't any need to drive him even crazier over the next pseudo-centruy.

[he's not really watching her. what even is there besides blood]

[Some alcohol... probably wouldn't work... she could try scratching the mirror with a knife, but that seems like a bad idea... there's a box of chocolates? but they appear to mostly be rocks. she still gives them a glance before deciding that's more trouble than avoiding being morbid is worth at this point, and just dips her fingers into the blood pooling on the floor]

I do think you're making it more hopeless than it is. Even if you were working for that guy before... you're unhappy about it now, right?

[this is perhaps still not the right moment for this conversation, but it's a distraction from what she's doing. it turns out it's kind of a laborious effort to write backwards on a mirror in blood, and it makes it kind of hard to avoid thinking about the dead bodies in the room.

she gets through DON'T WORRY, WE'LL SEE as she speaks]

I wasn't happy about it at the time, either.

[still not watching her]

[she pauses and glances at him]

Then there was clearly something going on you still don't understand. If we all get out of this... who knows what things will even be like. Don't shoot yourself in the foot when there's plenty of people who will do it for you.

[still, she finishes DON'T WORRY, WE'LL SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN, and after a brief hesitation, adds: ♡ MAKI.]

[finally glancing back in her direction]

...I can't believe you signed it with a heart.

Shut up.

[She wipes her bloody hand off on her skirt and sits down again, leaning against him heavily... even though he's wearing metal armor and that's not super comfortable]

[A puts an arm over her shoulder. That's also not terribly comfortable with the metal armor, but he's not going to take it off when they could be dumped back at the start at any minute]

[She does not seem to particularly mind. She wraps her own arm around him and pulls close, turning so she's curled against him without him having to shift.]

Say, Maki. If I end up losing my mind like that... you can do whatever you need to.

[she tenses]

...I'll do everything I can to prevent that from happening, first.

Mind you, I don't have any intention of losing to this house.
