It takes him a hesitant second to uh - figure out how to actually, accelerate? (He hadn't really considered this part before...) It's probably enough time for Intensity to dart ahead, at any rate, but when he does figure it out his bike is jerking ahead full speed. ]

Okay, you know what? It's actually hard to steer one of these on a sheet of pure ice as Intensity takes the first turn wide. Way too wide, practically skidding before he regains control of the bike.

[ The advantage of being behind is - well, thanks for showing him what NOT to do. He turns more conservatively than he might have had he not just seen Intensity nearly wipe out, letting the skid on the ice compensate for the rest. It works, mostly; he hasn't fallen off yet! Go team.

He gives the next curve the next treatment, but his fortune starts to wane when he has to swerve to avoid a - what the FUCK was that? A snowblob? Stacks of snow with a face? Friendly snow rocks? He's from Ancient Egypt, he doesn't know what this shit is!!! - a whatever that was, the sudden jerking motion sending him skidding dangerously to the left. He manages to salvage it by dragging one booted foot across the ice to prevent himself from toppling.

Why the hell didn't they just pick card games???? ]

[Intensity seems more confident as they stay on a relatively straight path even if it requires dodging some snow-monsters. The part that he is less confident about is fast approaching though:

He dodges the next obstacle with less overcompensation, which is a step in the right direction. It's enough to embolden him to floor it, trying to catch up to Intensity. In fact, he's almost feeling smugly confident as the gap between them narrows, until...

Scattered in such a way that he'll almost certainly have to make an impossible turn to avoid them if he comes out on this side of the crater. Or, y'know, just get gruesomely impaled or something.
