Did you enjoy it? [Will wait for her answer before more grinding.]
no subject
[ A beat, ] But I'm sure you already knew that.
[ Notably, not an accusation. ]
no subject
[He shrugs with a sheepish look and then gonna grind the other side.]
no subject
[ Because she wasn't... She just doesn't back down from a perceived challenge. ]
[ His question does bring up another one that she decides need to be asked. Since she's not convinced he put Caeli up for it, but even so - ]
So just how many people know who I am?
[ The 'knows more about me than I do,' goes unsaid ]
no subject
[There is a pause in his grinding. Then he focuses on it for A Bit.]
I believe....eight people who are still here who have seen my memories and thus likely have seen you. Its about half of them who saw anything of real substance.
no subject
Great.
no subject
And if I'm remembering anything of you of substance, its because I'm involved in the substance...stuff. [He gestures vaguely as he polishes the blade, looking over the edge.] You weren't their concern, I was, so I was the focus of any digging about the events.
no subject
Look, I don't blame you for them knowing anything. [ Because she doesn't, though there's still something in her touch. ] Of course they'd be more worried about you, you're their friend and the one that was here. It's just -
[ Difficult to describe. She doesn't blame him, but by consequence of him being there she feels seen by total strangers when she doesn't have her own bearings. ] It doesn't matter. I'll deal with it.
[ Because that's kind of. All she can do. ]
no subject
[He just hoped the fact he would have shared the information normally would make it less....a lot. Make it more mundane, maybe.]
[He holds out the axe to her.] Want to go to the park before memories? You can hit some trees and hopefully if I'm there, that'll be enough screens for the memory?
no subject
[ But she will take the axe. Because she's not going to lie about how it's comforting to herself. ] I'll be fine without hitting some trees, but a walk sounds nice.
[ A pause. ] What do I owe you?
[ For use of the axe; Said in a way that she won't take no for an answer. ]
no subject
.....
Never mention the dress or girl thing to certain parties at home. You'll know exactly who I mean when you remember them.
no subject
[ ...Curious choice, though. ]
For now. Pretty unfair of you to use my lack of memory to your benefit when it sounds like it might be a good time. For me.
[ Certainly, probably the lightest tone she's taken with him yet - almost teasing. She'd (probably) wind up agreeing and keeping it, but he doesn't need to know that. ]
no subject
[He gives his own cheeky tone, as he tugs off the apron.]
no subject
You have yourself a deal.
[ But now she's just curious. ]
no subject
[Listen, Snotlout nor the Twins never need to know about Maid Rye.]
So anywhere you want to go? [Heading for the door.]
no subject
[ Shrugs. ]
You're the expert around here. I did go to the park this morning - there was this big glass building with plants inside. It was really weird.
[ But :c She liked the pretty flowers, admittedly. She's not gonna tell him that, though. ]

That's something I'm gonna find a way to bring home effectively. Its a way to grow plants all year. Even when its cold or the plants aren't native to the region.
no subject
It definitely seems like something that would help with harvest problems and during the winter. Seeing only snow everywhere must get old sometimes.
no subject
But it should be more then doable. Its one of those things that are actually easier because we have dragons. A basic greenhouse works in the less cold winter months, but frost damage can happen when its really cold.
But with dragons around, we could far more easily regulate the temperature, even during the Freeze! It would be so much easier to store food and have fresh produce in winter.
no subject
What with some kind of ventilation system?
no subject
A lot of dragons like nesting in caves, so just need to put the greenhouses near those nests, just topside. Just the way a lot of dragons with burn stone before they sleep on it would keep the heat pretty regular.
no subject
Will the heat really be able to get that far or is it... making some kind of hole in the rocks?
no subject
That would take experimentation. The first year would have to solely be a testing phase, while storing food as normal.
But we could have a few green houses set up, see if the ambient heat would be enough to creep up through the rock, or if it would take having vents. Then also one where there was just direct influence of dragons eating it up on purpose.
And probably one with none of that, just to see how the basic design works, but from my research, it won't work as well in extreme cold.
no subject
[ And she does, so she says thoughtfully; ] So even if you could it would still probably take several years before anything comes from it... What would you plant inside? You know, to ensure that seeds aren't wasted for planting later?
no subject
We wouldn't need a lot for the first year, since that would just be the proof of concept year. A few pots of our staple crops. After we know what method allows them to at least survive, we can increase the number with the crops we have more plentiful seeds, either from our own crops, or through trade.
Which is the plan if we're cut off. If we're not cut off, I'll be able to get a lot of seeds from Silver for all sorts of tests.
