[ there's an old lady in the lobby who has seated herself at a table and has a set of tools in front of her. honestly it's enough tools that it's like, has she been only using points to buy materials while she's been here?

but anyway. she looks at the camera. she summons all her enthusiasm, which is to say, none. ]

If you've something you'd like to get patched up or tuned up, I'll do it for cost of materials plus a hundred points an hour. I'm willing to discuss custom projects. None of this magic repair or gadgeteering nonsense; I don't trust it.

All right, so—you're going in it. Send along your height in centimeters and weight in kilograms plus shoulder and hip measurements, plus how much your friend can lift, give or take. Can he lift you, as you are right now?

Not a problem.

He's lifted me while he was flying, but I think one of your unitmates' devices was aiding him so I'll check again. [ Venti's going to hate this but she'll sing off key at him until he agrees ]

Maybe there's a way to make the case... roll? Or hover? I don't know what I'm talking about of course, I'm just blathering.

Rolling's definitely feasible. Hovering, no idea. Technical details'll need a bit of trial and error, so can't make any timeline promises, mind.

I understand. And I'll pay for your time regardless.

I actually have a memory I can replay for for if you need an idea of how my hibernation looks. It only shows a bit, but you can see the chrysalis. And it's transparent, more or less.

All right. [ Aliza's expression goes carefully neutral as she sets up the memory to replay. This isn't her favorite thing, showing her memories to others, but if she wants to get out of here without anyone risking the potentially horrible consequences of trying to wake her, it's necessary. ]

[ Finally she arranges for the rebroadcast, hits play and then places the phone down so Velleity can watch. It's not a terribly bad one for a third party to watch, at least. ]

[ she watches with a slight thoughtful frown, occasionally tilting her head. if she has any kind of personal judgment on this, it's not apparent. ]

All right. That gives me a better idea of what I'm trying to fit in there, anyway. How fragile is it?

Hmm... I don't know exactly. But I can't imagine it would be so fragile that a small bump would fracture it, or else it couldn't last for decades. I can push my way out of it, but I'm pretty strong here, much stronger on my world of origin.

[ oh god might she not be strong enough now to get out of the thing?! Thoughts that will haunt her. ]

Well, probably good enough. Suppose you could also do with a movement sensor in there for emergencies so someone will ostensibly know to pop the lid.

Could a fluid sensor work too, since when I wake up and break it open all the insides spill out? I don't really know which is easier or better. Technology is so not my area.

Well, I'll fiddle with it. Somewhat depends on if the fluid's something that would trip a moisture sensor or is, well. Blood.

It's at least partially blood, but diluted or else you wouldn't be able to see inside. And the taste is definitely different than blood. [ TMI? Ah well, it's in the interest of science. ]

Moisture sensors detect water vapor, so it depends on the water content of any particular liquid and if it can condense--well, anyway. I'll figure something out.
