You said you don't know what this would be used for. It's not a material I remember from back in my world, but on this planet, they use it for all sorts of things—like building infrastructure and making blankets and clothing retain more heat.

It doesn't withstand enough heat for what I want to use it for, so I don't have much of a use for these, but it was a fun first experiment.

That does make sense. Keeping a house cool is pretty hard to do without magic. Need proper air flow and structure and things like that. If a material kept out heat, it would help a lot. Probably help keep heat in when they needed it warm too.

Tantalum carbide is pretty easy to get, and it can survive up to around 3,800 degrees Celsius. Lava is around 1,250 degrees Celsius at its hottest.

It's a waterproof jacket gadgeteered with tantalum carbide—so it can withstand up to around 3,800 degrees Celsius. . . uhm, the neck fabric is a three-layer system, so it works as a filter. It doesn't filter as well as a gas mask does exactly, but the natural air here doesn't need more than this filter would be able to handle in most situations anyway, and anyway I'm still working on a design to make a comfortable gas mask. It is machine washable, I've tested—

Uhm, it's not the comfiest or softest jacket in the world, but I figured, since it's already so insulated, it would end up feeling too warm on the inside. . . oh, but then you can just control your own temperature, so maybe that was a silly thing to consider—uhm, anyway, it's corrosion-resistant and there are a few places to put pockets in, plus it has a hood—I think I saw that right in your memory before but, uhm, I thought it would be harder to wash if it was white fabric, so I tried to find something that was your position color instead. . . As for the size, I picked this design so that it would be more forgiving even if it was a little small or a little big. . .
