[ when he opens his eyes, he spends a moment battling the aching feeling that maybe, just maybe, he shouldn't have bothered. that maybe he could have appreciated darkness for another minute before having to face the world.

the world that he, admittedly, immediately does not understand. it goes beyond not exactly understanding what may have brought him to such an oddly grotesque (but clearly intentionally so) place; he can neither wrap his head around the decor nor himself as a person.

almost as if just to confirm that he is real and a person, he holds his hand up and turns it, examining it front to back. person? yes. human, at least as far as he can tell. strange place? very yes. definitely yes.
