Cardinal Chases Dawn: New attendees welcome, guest stars included. If you suspect you fit that description but don't remember, you can come too.
Cardinal Chases Dawn: You don't have to talk about your feelings or whatever so you can chill out. We're just going to drink and see who's best at throwing knives.
Cardinal Chases Dawn: Or rather, who's second best after me.

I was very expensive. And that was before Alexander and Five got together, so I guess he was rusty.

Hah, wasn't there Absinthe, somehow I can only assume you are just that scandalous.

I didn't know about that one. I hate to disappoint, but all I did was ask about Ascian sexual mores while hanging upside down on a stripper pole. I can't imagine being as scandalous as Absinthe.

Right, you were there for that. Reading Baudelaire. "There all is order and beauty, Luxury, peace, and pleasure."

I'm named after a poem, sort of. "The Charge of the Light Brigade" by Tennyson. I like Baudelaire a lot more

Oh? Tennyson is a bit...idyllic for my taste normally. Baudelaire is much better.

What else do you like? I need recommendations.

That I am always happy to give. I most enjoy the romantics, generally - a name that gives the wrong impression, Baudelaire is one. Wordsworth, Keats, Coleridge, the Shelleys, Poe, Goethe...Blake is my favourite.

I'll look into them more. I don't call there being many Romantics around my bash'. I was reading The Metamorphoses. One of my sibs is named after one of the stories—Thisbe.

Are you all named for poetry? The Greeks and Romans are fine taste too. But I may be biased myself.

Not quite. Cato, Eureka, Prospero, and then Kat and Robin, A historical figure, a historical expression, and a play. Then a weirdly apt animal duo.

These seem like rather cruel names for the most part.

Yes, I ponder over that a lot myself. My sibs and I killed them, when I was twenty-five—they were planning to subvert orders. I don't remember the deed, but I wonder if they knew what they were in for.

...That does sound almost prophetic. I have wondered that myself at times. But then how could any parent know. Perhaps the other way around, self-fulfilling.

Are you familiar with Dante's Divine Comedy?

A little bit. I haven't re-read it recently.

Well good enough if I don't have to explain the whole thing. Yes, it seems as if there was always the intent of that dynamic of Virgil's presence being entirely for Dante's protection. But somehow plenty of parallels that couldn't have been meant.

Perhaps children shouldn't be named for history and literature.

There really is no way to avoid a complex.

Take that knowledge back to your world, find a way to avoid cruel names. Everyone's must be entirely unique.

I wonder how we'd manage it. Strings of numbers are right out.
