[ After a long, long, long night, you wake in the dead zone, having slept more deeply than you've ever slept before.

Perhaps more restfully than you've ever slept before, even—do you remember your dreams? Is it all coming back to you, now?

For certain dreamers, the flower markings have disappeared, though if you wake early enough you can catch them glowing bright before burning away painlessly. With that, it feels as though maybe a weight's been lifted off your shoulders—maybe you really needed that sleep.

For certain dreamers, you may find yourself waking up with something new—was that always in your hands? Where did you get that from? Do you remember?

And, for a certain few unlucky dreamers, you may find yourself waking with pain, wounds or scars that remind you that what happened last night was not entirely a dream.

But then, who could ever believe it was a dream anyway?

The sun shines bright; Heaven's chain shines brighter. In the distance, white clouds roll toward the city, threatening rain.

You did, but I yet not know the specifics. It is difficult, is it not? Not only the shock of the act, but you have prioritized and succeeded at survival for so many, many years. I imagine each feels like failure in its own it.

It is not, but telling your mind that is a different matter.

It does. I knew what I was getting into that second time at least, but it still felt like a failure.

... It was painful. I was basically drained by those flowers.

It's hardly your fault and besides. I did take advantage of the knowledge it wasn't going to be permanent.

It just still feels like shit, despite the fact I should be used to it by now. Nothing that will occupy my thoughts for terribly long.

I was only careless because Vergil's potential well being was on the line, I do try to be less reckless under other circumstances.

A nice suit and a good cup of coffee is enough luxury for me to be honest.

Though I guess a comfortable bed and my beautiful partner next to me work just as fine as well.

Except for the attire I suppose which I do have pieces waiting for you, but I will wait until we will not have guests. Unless you would like to entice them.

As for my preferred style, well. I suppose a gaudy mansion full of pointless crap does suit me after all. If we're talking luxurious I do enjoy a large bath like the one you have in your room.

Are you growing an affinity for water?

Well. It is nice and relaxing.

And I suspect not the sort of thing I had access to in the apocalypse.

I could imagine you taking Delores to the beach in the summer and just listening to the waves.

I'm pretty sure at most we scavenged for food together. But who knows. Maybe I'll be surprised by a few more memories.

And what about you? What would luxury look like for you?

Scarce as the resource might have been, you're efficient. And you are sentimental. You would have done a kind gesture for an anniversary. Something if not this.

Do I not make my desires apparent? A large bed with soft covers and even softer pillows. The warmth of the sun during the day. The beauty of stars and souls at night, peaceful and serene.

Though now I wonder what items of questionable usefulness I could get you.

Well I know I've gotten wine she loved on a few occasions. And yes, I probably took care of celebrating special moments with her, just as I enjoy doing with you.

Is it a cop-out answer if I say whatever would make you happy is fine by me? If you'll enjoy it as well then that makes it more useful.

Perhaps it was the wine then that enticed you to BARiTONES among other things. Though that is sweet. That you would do that for her.

It isn't. And I'm sure your preferences might change over time, but I imagine flowers and scents will always be among your favorites.

A little funny to think about considering I didn't use to care much for either. Well. Not beyond their efficiency for romantic gesture. But admittedly having the chance to enjoy them for myself has been rather nice.

Maybe I could enjoy nice bedsheets made of silk.
