stay-at-home monologue
Who: Glory, Raven, anyone
Where: Hotel lobby
When: Day 264 afternoon
[The lobby has been a bit ravaged by imp attacks. Glory (whose hair appears to be pure white at the moment) and Raven are standing against the wall by the elevators for a clean background. Glory starts out:]
This is an announcement. We have reason to believe that these things are antagonizing us because they feed off negative emotions somehow. When they disintegrate, they're not really being killed, and the smoke they leave could be dangerous... and it also seems like they've been trying to form into something else. Given all of that, fighting them may be doing more harm than good. If people could try to hold off a little... barricade yourself somewhere, and try to have positive feelings? Just for today, so we can see how they react... That would be helpful.
[She pauses, and gives Raven a look. Raven picks it up:]
It's a tall task, but if we can all try to stay inside for one day and not give those wretched little creatures more fodder to make our lives miserable, we may be able to cut them off. Wouldn't that be an interesting sight? And if your dormitory has any open air segments--a balcony that looks out over the city, for example--cover that up as best you can, so the creatures don't find a way inside.
So, to reiterate: stay indoors, don't leave the hotel, and... while it may be difficult in these circumstances... do something that makes you happy. You could read a good book, spend some time with your unit, play a game, throw a party, revel in the knowledge that you could be strangling the life out of each and every one of those imps merely by enjoying yourself, listen to some music... just keep it inside. I realize it's very satisfying to stab them like meat on a skewer, but try to refrain for a while. If you get too antsy for some... action, you could always challenge someone to a duel instead.
[He swings his cane helpfully. Glory adds:]
To be clear, this is a request, not an order or anything. But the more people who do it the more effective it will be, I think. And if anyone has any other ideas for ways to keep them out or fun things to do, please share them.
