No, one's like... surprised. That's just a reflex. Not scared.

Scared's for when you wanna run away and cry.

[ agreeably ] Okay.

Why're you visiting us, anyway? Your dorm has way more swords in it.

[A beat. Does he explain to her they're dating? Would she know what that even meant??]

...I like him as much as I like swords.

[ holy SHIT ] Wow......

[wheeze, shoots a pained glance at Jason,,,,]

[ leans in to whisper ] Don't worry, I definitely won't snitch.
Rules against loving people are... they're dumb, anyway.

[He chuckles quietly]

Well, I'm glad there's someone on his team who'll be there to protect him.

Well... [ her cheeks color a bit ] ...I'm going to try as hard as I can.
That's what you do for Familia—you don't have to be a sword for that.

[His smile only widens, and he pats her on the head.]

We arrived at the same time, and the first thing we did was fight. She pretty much immediately broke my arm.

[Laughs, fondly]

She was everything I wasn't. Polite, eager to serve. Always gung ho t'do her best for the family. Never settled for less than absolute victory, 'cause she'd always push herself to be the best.

With a sword in her hand, she moved like quicksilver - so fast you wouldn't even realize you'd been cut. But she loved us all so much, too.

I really hope I'm like that. It's harder, here, being kind of broken—it used to be that I could slice through anything, whether I was shaped like myself or like a person. Now, I have to learn how to fight shaped like this instead.

But... I think I want to meet her too.

I hope you can. I think she'd like you.

And if you've got even a fraction of her determination, you'll figure out how to cut in even more ways.
