[ if you happen to catch a glimpse at a TV screen, bright and early this morning --
the signal on the screen is live! and it seems to be split into two halves, vertically. on one side, you have a dimly-lit image of an angel in a straightjacket. there's light illuminating them from above but the surroundings are too dark to decipher where they are exactly; one can see, however, syringe needles protruding from various spots on the angel's body, many of them connected to tubes that lead offscreen. The tubes are filled with a blue light, as though extracting the angel's essence, though many needles stab through with syringes emptied of their contents and only serving the purpose of making a pincushion of the creature now.
on the other side of the screen, there's two idols chained up against a dungeon wall, hands bound above them and manacles on their ankles as well. those who've been in the House of Mirth previously may recognize it as the dungeon -- the sconces on the wall are lit, this time, clearly showing the previously-dark surroundings.
there's a figure beside them, easily seven feet tall. they're wearing either a mask or maybe it's just their real head -- it's an elongated goat skull, at the very least, with long, twisted horns. they're wearing a dark black cloak that seems to hide almost all of their body. they're holding pliers, but even their hands are gloved as if to hide anything identifying. and when they speak -- their voice is filtered, warped as if coming through a loudspeaker. ]
Are we all ready for the show to begin?

Demeter: I expect we're meeting now. Given the broadcast.

[ without preamble- ] The very fact that they're trying to scare us means that they fear what will happen if we aren't.
no subject
Precisely.
If they wanted to convince the angel, there would be no reason to show the rest of us.
Shall I get you up to speed then?
no subject
[ taking a seat, setting her phone down to keep an eye on developments ]
no subject
That's the origin of that meteor site.
Obviously it went poorly. He was captured by Pythia's people and brought to the House of Mirth, Azzy's summer home. Which is supposedly located in Pandemonium, the King of Hell's domain. We have no access to that city. Only demons are allowed there.
But---
[Points to the screen]
It seems Nemesis and Hurricane have found their way there all the same.
Rumors say they want the angel alive so it can open the gateway to Heaven. I'm assuming this is just another one of their persuasion methods.
no subject
I knew the first of that from Talon. He neglected to mention that it wasn't just the mission squadron that was captured, but also our angelic ally.
So.
Why Hurricane and Nemesis, specifically? Now it's clear that the angel knows and cares for them, but...
The demons obviously knew who to kidnap, and meanwhile I had no idea that angel even had people they called friends.
no subject
But you can definitely count Hurricane, Nemesis, Requiem of ZRAEL, King of Heart Soldier Senshi, and Yugi of pep!pep! as friends. They tried to rescue the the angel after he was captured and were able to make contact with him once through the application of holy water.
no subject
How did hell know, then?
Nemesis and the others obviously weren't boasting about it.
Because it sounds to me like either there are cameras in places we don't realize, or there's been an information leak.
no subject
Could there be cameras all over Tokyo-D that we don't know about?
Absolutely.
But since we returned from there to our glass cage here, no progress or contact has been made with the angel except for learning the location of the House of Mirth. Which then they threw in our face because the room he was in was missing from the House entirely.
no subject
—Alright, back up a bit. What is a parking garage, who is "Fluff-fluff," and this "House of Mirth" is that House?
no subject
This all happened in the Lady of Lies domain.
The five of them were able to talk to him briefly. Learned he was in the House of Mirth - which yes, is that House. And also Azzy's summer home. Exael used it as a stage in one of the earlier games to clue us in on what was actually happening. Got beat to shit for her trouble. The fact that it came around again is probably not a coincidence.
FluffFluff is the other angel. The one who works security for the Lady of Lies. Electricity. Zapping. Memory wiping. Does any of that seem familiar?
They contacted me after all of this went down and we headed to the Lady of Lies penthouse to see if we could find where the House of Mirth was located. FluffFluff was there. And wiped the floor with all of us.
no subject
Did you have any actually trained combatants with your group? People who would be formidable without unit abilities, I mean.
And all of that doesn't necessarily answer the question of how the information spread. Because you did get captured before, and this didn't happen.
no subject
It's no secret to the Liar faction or Lady Death that we were all "friends" to the angel.
[Intensity excluded]
And that Hurricane is the most bleeding heart among us.
If you're asking why they didn't make a public spectacle of the former capture, I couldn't say. But that also doesn't seem like FluffFluff's style. He'd rather be at home watching sitcoms with his wife.
no subject
Not the point.
The point is that.... [ a pause, and she frowns a bit to herself, gathering her thoughts ]
Surely it has occurred to you that FluffFluff works for the Liar faction, while Hurricane and Nemesis are held in a house belonging to Vengeance.
Something is going on, Intensity.
no subject
The angel is bad news for the Liar faction. It sheds doubt on their God in favor of this one. So it makes sense that they would want to capture it and seal it away.
So why hold it in Azzy's house of Vengeance? Why broadcast this?
Fuck if I know. Unless this goes up to the King of Hell and is beyond both of their pay grades.
And it's also been bugging me that the whole original mission was for Vengeance to capture the angel and blame it on the Liars? Blame what? What did Vengeance want to do with the angel?
On top of that, throw in the fact that FluffFluff is a Fallen Angel who supposedly helped us out, and you're right -- there are a lot of politics going on that we don't have any insight into.
So what do you suggest our next move is?
no subject
....How stupid would it be to try to contact Flufffluff? Cardigan mentioned that his wife has a distinct fondness for them, which makes it easy for me to come up with a compelling bribe.
If the broadcast means that Vengeance was behind this, then we may have an opportunity to play the factions against each other.
Our less rash options I think mostly rely on Talon's ability to infiltrate. But I mislike using a child any more than absolutely necessary—and if this does involve Malfeas, it's more than he can handle, regardless of his skills.
[ a beat ] "Malfeas" is my world's name for the King of Hell. Feel free to borrow it if you like.
no subject
[Consider it added to his vocabulary]
I've been meaning to attempt to send a message to FluffFluff. Just have Cardigan send her a Live or a video addressed to his wife, Chelle, and she'll see it and so will he. And he'll know it was from us.
Her other favorites are Kuzuebiko and that loudmouth on ZRAEL, but he's gone now. But other unitmate substitutions might also work.
And I'd prefer to keep Talon getting in too deep as well. Especially when we have the Damned that we can also use to get what we want.
no subject
Malik from BAD END was quite insistent that he couldn't be trusted because of that history, you know.
I think he actually wants to contribute a lot more than he lets on, as it happens, but his default assumption isn't something I'll forget.
So, contacting FluffFluff ourselves is starting to seem like a more appealing option.
no subject
no subject
Oh, absolutely. I can tell I touched a nerve with him about it, since he shifted demeanor to do everything in his power to make me dislike him. All of them have every ability to help us—and should, if they have any self-respect.
Regardless:
As long as we're confident that the Liars previously held the angel, I imagine they're just as invested in discovering the source of the security breach as we are. I think we can probably work with that.
