BETRAYAL SESSION 14

What: Betrayal at the House on the Game Tower

[ The game starts with you in elevators, the doors jammed shut. You can keep an eye on the city further and further below you, but there's no introduction to today's game.

It's just as well. Those of you who recognize it need no introduction to it. Those of you who don't couldn't be prepared by any host's opening spiel, anyway.

The elevator stops atop the central tower of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building and then lurches unpleasantly, wrenching itself out of where elevators ought to go. The sudden movement jolts you, and when the doors open you spill out into a room.

Hopefully, with not too much time missing. ]

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

[ You enter the menagerie. Though it is a large room, it is not a large menagerie. There are few beasts within. A powerful black lion, a species that… by all accounts should be mythical (though maybe hell is not the place to quibble about that) lounges in the center of the room. There are no cage bars to hold it back, apparently given full run of the place. Rocky outcrops of stone throughout the room, a few brush species of plants in containers, and twinkling lights set into the ceiling above. You are lucky, and the lion is sleeping soundly, undisturbed by your noise as birds trill songs and cover the sound of your footsteps about the room.

There is an exit to the east.

After the first time you enter the room, you feel more confident for having been in proximity to such a mighty beast without waking it-- gain a physical trait in either strength or speed ]

[Sekhmet stands in the room quietly, sweating and breathing hard, but not making much sound. She barely even seems to notice the mighty beast in the room. Instead she is holding up:

A golden frame with cracked glass, meant to hold a photo, but the paper inside is blank… except when it isn't.

If used on a person, the photograph displays an image of a traumatizing memory, and they relive some of their feelings from that time. [They do not need to write up a whole memory write up, they can just write something along the lines of: the photograph shows them, a bloody sword in hand, or the photo shows the door of their room, locked, etc. Characters react as if they're reliving their feelings from that time, be it having sudden phantom pains, crying, etc. The person afflicted by the frame chooses what image and reaction the character has OOCly.]

Anybody who enters the room and sees the picture she is holding out will see the truth. The truth of life. And they will know to just give up. It is kinder that way.]

[ it's the end of the line, sekhmet. ]

[ he's managed to convince the both of them to help, so he enters the room dragging his chainsaws with a larger than life smile on his face... that is until he sees the picture she's holding. he freezes, his smile falter, as, again, he's forced to relieve killing king. ]

[ the cracks of the puzzle tattoo on his chest glow brightly and more of the pieces start to break off, the light becoming more intense from behind his already soaked shirt. tears brim in his eyes, but he manages to narrow them, grinding his teeth together, because k- king is always with him now. they're together. forever. ]

[ his chest heaves with each and every breath he takes, but he doesn't dare take another step into the room. ] Y- You're a bitch, you know that, right, ...

[ Perhaps it's because she's short, that she doesn't immediately see the frame. Yugi is small too but she's come in from behind him and Zero. She notices something is wrong right away, however. She peaks out cautiously- He's seen something unpleasant? ]

Sekhmet-chan...! It's been a while since I've seen you.

[ She doesn't want some picture frame. So instead, she chucks one of her knives from behind the boys at Sehkmet with a might of 8. ]

[ —While Yugi's stand-still is the first thing he'll take note of. Something to take advantage of, he hopes.

His fingers curl around the short-sword he's withdrawn. Silent, and just behind Yugi, he strikes the side of his throat, aiming to embed it, with an 3 might. At the same time he's dipping down, almost close enough to bite ]

Don't get so distracted, now.

[Sekhmet deftly dodges the knife, and steps closer, holding the frame forward as she walks towards them all.]

Just surrender. See how terrible it is? I'll end it for you. Softly, gently.

[ and "thanks" to sekhmet and her stupid picture he's a touch stunned at the moment, so zero's sword connects with his neck, slicing the side, so that more of his golden blood spills out. his skin cracks along the slice, puzzle shaped fissures forming as pieces begin breaking off... yugi starts trembling as he can feel his heart beating in his ears. ]

B- Bastard. [ he shoves him back. ] I thought... [ a growl, his eyes flickering to sekhmet as she dares to come closer. ] You.

[ he tosses the other chainsaw aside to hold the other with both hands, revving it and humming along with it under his breath. ] Vroom vroom. [ he stalks forward, eyes brimming with tears, because fuck. that. pictures. ] It's your fault I died, Sekhmet, you're the one that ordered my death! and here I thought you wanted to be friends, but I... I was wrong! Stupid and wrong! [ he grits his teeth and swings the chainsaw in an arc, might - 9. ]

[ Oh-- a memory. It begins... a helpless feeling, desperate to protect Zero, watching him get pinned to the wall with a spear. And she--

But suddenly Yugi is in the way again as he moves to attack Sekhmet and it wears off. The stone-cold feeling of her failure chokes in her throat.

It won't happen again. It won't happen again. ]

I-If we suffer, then you suffer too...

[ Every single person who thinks it's okay to lust after the blood of another, she'll destroy. Which is why as Yugi takes his chainsaw to Sekhmet, Kaguya pushes a knife into his back with a might of 8, and just as Zero had done, she burries her fangs deep into his throat, an arm wrapping around him to hold him more securely in place if able. ]

[ betrayed,
his first thought. ]

[ again,
his second. ]

[ it’s fate, he suspects, to have his friends turn on him over and over and over again. he recalls pretty pretty princess, and the reason he felt so compelled to kill sekhmet. she hurt so many people, and for no reason, and she... and she needed to pay. absinthe, maki, and himself. and for what, a crown, he still can’t really even wrap his head around that... though, right now, he really can’t wrap his head around much. ]

Ka- Kaguya. [ he faces a bit of resistance, bringing the chainsaw through sekhmet’s body, but he doesn’t stop there, he can’t, not when he’s being so blatantly betrayed by somebody he thought he could rely on. he trusted her. h- he thought he could trust her. he feels his heart burn, the pain spreading out as more golden blood spills forth and more puzzle pieces drop off. ] Why... [ yugi chokes out, throat tightening as tears roll down his cheeks. ]

[ though he supposed it doesn’t matter. if she’s going to betray him, then he’s going to betray her. he doesn’t stop swinging the chainsaw, instead tightening his hold on the grip as he releases it with one hand to let it snap back toward them. as soon as it’s changed it’s course he reaches back for it, hoping to make this quick, because he’s only got one shot - 8 - he sweeps it through himself, hoping to get kaguya, because she’s so close; personal space, bitch. ]

[ The pain and shock in his voice are heartbreaking. He hadn't suspected that she would try and remove him like this. And she can keenly feel the agony inside at being required to take such an action. But she has to. This is the right thing to do. ]

I'm sorry, Yugi...

[ She sounds sincere, her voice cracking. ]

You can't... you can't hurt anyone else. I can't let you spill any more blood. Right now...you're sick.

[ He isn't acting like himself. She moves to try and wrap an arm around him, to at least hold him in his last moments, when suddenly, the chainsaw moves. She gasps as the blade cuts through himself, and pain abruptly blooms the top cuts through himself and brushes against her side.

Almost at once she drops him and jumps back (7). Her heart races. That was close... too close. He had almost cut her in half along with him. She shifts her hand to the newly acquired injury and shakes her head. ]

Even in your last moments, you were so mad as to try and take me along with you.

[ Yugi... ]

I hope in death you are finally able to find peace.

[When Sekhmet realizes that her prey- no, her patients are not properly sedated, she is in shock. What went wrong? Certainly, the medicine is bitter, but she's just trying to deliver them from this terribly painful cycle. Normally, in a situation like this, Sekhmet would be filled with a repressed sense of giddiness, which she would despise, but there was none of that now. Just calm and assuredness. But now there was panic. How did it go so wrong? They are all like she was, when she had lost control. Why?

Her eyes go wide with fear and despair, meeting Yugi's desperately, pleadingly- let me help you; but only for a moment until the saw tears into her, shredding her fragile body. Blood goes everywhere, its scent filling the room, which may be of interest to some. She stumbles back, and is dead before she hits the floor.]
