[So everything is terrible, and it's probably time for a cuddle pile.]

[Fixes him with a look that's flat, kind of hard to parse.]

You're just going to sit on the floor all night?

[looks up at him with an open expression]

No, just until you'd like me to leave.

The bed won't break, you know.

[A beat, and then another.]

...probably.

[He pauses for a moment, quiet.

Then he slowly gets up and eases himself onto the bed, next to Thorn.]

[He doesn't say anything for a long minute or two. He just fixes Cobalt with an odddly searching look, from his spot among the pillows.]

[He's not sure what that look means, or what he's supposed to be doing that has Thorn giving him so much consideration.

But he does know... that he's here now. And that there's nowhere else he'd rather be except maybe a little closer.

So he raises his arm -- an invitation to cuddle.]

Come here?

[Thorn hesitates - hesitates longer.]

[He eases himself away from the wall and settles himself in by Cobalt's side, leaning on him, instead.]

[He wraps his arm around him, gently, holding him close. The warmth and weight makes some difficult things in his heart loosen and start to untangle.

He lets out a long, slow breath.

After a moment, he slowly leans over and lightly presses a kiss the top of Thorn's head.]

[He doesn't respond - but he stays where he is, and gradually he sinks more of his weight against Cobalt, turning his head in a little, toward his chest.]

[He sits like that a moment, silently taking it in.

After a bit, he reaches up and gently begins to run his fingertips through the soft, short hairs of Thorn's scalp, lightly finger-combing the tangles out of his post-shower hair, and smoothing it out over his head. Slowly, unhurried.]

[As the seconds tick past, the tension in Thorn's body starts to ebb away. The bridge of his shoulders relaxes, and the line of his spine curves to something less rigid.]

[It's almost two minutes before he closes his eyes.]

[He sits like that, unmoving except for the fingers in Thorn's hair. After a while, he lets his own eyes drift closed, as well.

It's easy to cast Cloud Nine like this, so he keeps it going, steady and continuous.

After all the stress and grief over the last two days, he's ready to stay like this forever.]

[It doesn't actually take him all that long to drift off, resting up against Cobalt's side. It has sure been A Day.]

[Once Thorn's breathing starts to even out and deepen, Cobalt -- very slowly, veerrry carefully -- reaches over and pulls up the side of the blankets, folding them over Thorn hotdog-style.

When he's all tucked in, he wraps his arms around him, holding him close, and rests his cheek on the top of Thorn's head.

This feels like everything he's ever wanted.]

[Good, because they might be here a while.]

[He could stay for the rest of his life]
