~GAME~

Who: everyone!
When: day 17, morning
What: GAME TIME

[ today, when the GAMESHOW notification goes off and the phone maps lead you to the game tower, the debris is still everywhere, the lobby is empty, and the elevators are unlabeled. The rules don't appear on your screens until after everyone has filed in, the doors have shut behind you, and the elevators have started up and risen at least a few stories.

your phones light up with instructions at the same time as the elevators all shudder to a stop, and a sharp hissing noise starts up as thin blasts of air enter from the walls and fills the room with a horrible, horrible smell. like straight up sewer rank awful. Luckily you won't have to deal with it for long, since you pass out so fast you won't even remember hitting the ground.

You wake up on the floor of a room with the rest of your unit. Mukuro's face isn't on any screens, but the first thing you might process as you regain consciousness is his boyish voice filling the air, shifting from calmly informative to as energetic as ever. ]

… courtesy of danna's abilities, we have much more exacting control over a much broader range of possibilities. Ah, and the stars of our show have just begun to stir!

Then, let's go over the rules of today's event once more!

[ and then he does show up, waist-up on the large tv-sized screen on the wall, smiling brightly beside a diagram demonstrating different possible outcomes - labeled with T's and B's and X's over "losing" stick figures. ]

Prisoner's dilemma! The max-tension psychological classic, with a secret agent feel~

This one is all about trust and betrayal. Originally, two people would be interrogated separately for information, and told that they would be spared if they turned on their partner. But if both of them kept their mouths shut, then their captors would have less over them and they both could be saved. While if they both betrayed one another, then they would both be punished! For either of them to win, at least one of them would have to take the risk and decide to "trust"~

Today's game is a three-person variant, or rather, a three-unit variant! This means that instead of just one other person, our idols will have to carefully consider the thinking of two whole other groups of people in their decision-making! But like the standard "prisoner's dilemma," only one person each is placed at risk ☆ Just like a sacrifice!

[ briefly, the display switches to images of flower arrangements ]

Additionally, since the idols haven't been told who their partners are, we've provided them with a small means of communication - courtesy of this goryou - for them to find some way to identify themselves, earn the other units' "trust," and get a read on what kinds of people now hold the fate of their unitmate in their hands!

[ and back to Mukuro, a bust shot with the diagram gone now ]

The results this time will be a little more complicated than the original "win/lose" scenario. In this case, even trusting each other won't get a good result. Betraying each other is worse, but only betraying someone who trusts you will save your sacrifice and bring your unit victory~! That's why it's important to convince the other units to "trust" no matter what!

And trusting someone who ends up betraying you - well, wouldn't that be just horrible?

Leeet's go! ♥
calmthefoxdown: (I'm so entertained.)

I'll take a note not to use flowers as a communication method in the future.

We thought your second set of flowers was saying you'd also play betray.
bluescreenwhitedragon: ([Ira-ira] I don't care)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
That was the plan.

It got vetoed at the last minute.

[Or maybe future is now is just REAL bad at communication]
calmthefoxdown: (Held eternally.)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ o thank god we're not completely terrible at flower reading. ]

Was there anything about our second set that gave you guys reason to change your minds, or was the switch because of different motives?
bluescreenwhitedragon: ([Ira-ira] Crawl like the maggot you are)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
Your second set was somehow even stupider than the first. What the fuck was talkative about?

They'd have to make sense first before we factored them in to any decision making.
calmthefoxdown: (Ts... un...)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
... We were trying to be assholes back to you guys since that seemed your style of humor, given your first set.

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Congratulations. You were assholes.
calmthefoxdown: (Yes that's very interesting.)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. We were.

We didn't convey our intentions clearly enough.
bluescreenwhitedragon: ([Card] No one holds cards like this)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
For fuck's sake, stop moping.
calmthefoxdown: (Are those actual emotions?)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ jfklsf startled out of his thoughts. ]

-I'm not moping.
bluescreenwhitedragon: ([Ira-ira] Crawl like the maggot you are)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You were thinking something stupid.
bluescreenwhitedragon: ([CEO] Alternate ending)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be the judge of that.

Spit it out.
calmthefoxdown: (Ts... un...)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ :T ]

I was thinking over what and how things could have gone differently.

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you have played different if you knew who the partner units were?
calmthefoxdown: (Yes yes.... no...)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
... No, I don't think so. We were playing based upon interpretation of how the other teams were trying to play, and according to you, we did interpret your original intent correctly.
bluescreenwhitedragon: ([Ira-ira] NO YOU)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Then why re-hash a decision you wouldn't change?
calmthefoxdown: (Focused.)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it's probably not the last time we'll have to make a decision like that. Remembering the effects on other units and on our own, and what the potentials were, are what will play into our decisions next time.
bluescreenwhitedragon: ([Ira-ira] Blue eyes (tm))

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-21 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The game's designed to fuck with you. Don't put too much stock into how much perceived control you have over things.
calmthefoxdown: (He's adopted.)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe not over the games, but we did have some over-

[ ... Honestly not sure he should be talking about this with another team. ]

- Over other things.
calmthefoxdown: (Do not disturb.)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-21 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Over things outside the game.
bluescreenwhitedragon: Credit: eroero-tomatoes ([Ira-ira] I'm listening)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-22 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. I figured as much. If you want to be cryptic, fine. Whatever.
calmthefoxdown: (Can you please not.)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-22 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not trying to be cryptic, I'm unsure if this is something I want to talk over with another unit before my own.
bluescreenwhitedragon: Credit: eroero-tomatoes ([Ira-ira] I'm listening)

[personal profile] bluescreenwhitedragon 2018-07-22 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Don't get too attached to those unit lines. That's just one more way the producers are controlling us.
calmthefoxdown: (In the name of the knight.)

[personal profile] calmthefoxdown 2018-07-22 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'll bear that in mind, but for the time, my actions and words during a game reflect back on my unit, not on everyone here.
