~GAME~

Who: everyone!
When: day 17, morning
What: GAME TIME

[ today, when the GAMESHOW notification goes off and the phone maps lead you to the game tower, the debris is still everywhere, the lobby is empty, and the elevators are unlabeled. The rules don't appear on your screens until after everyone has filed in, the doors have shut behind you, and the elevators have started up and risen at least a few stories.

your phones light up with instructions at the same time as the elevators all shudder to a stop, and a sharp hissing noise starts up as thin blasts of air enter from the walls and fills the room with a horrible, horrible smell. like straight up sewer rank awful. Luckily you won't have to deal with it for long, since you pass out so fast you won't even remember hitting the ground.

You wake up on the floor of a room with the rest of your unit. Mukuro's face isn't on any screens, but the first thing you might process as you regain consciousness is his boyish voice filling the air, shifting from calmly informative to as energetic as ever. ]

… courtesy of danna's abilities, we have much more exacting control over a much broader range of possibilities. Ah, and the stars of our show have just begun to stir!

Then, let's go over the rules of today's event once more!

[ and then he does show up, waist-up on the large tv-sized screen on the wall, smiling brightly beside a diagram demonstrating different possible outcomes - labeled with T's and B's and X's over "losing" stick figures. ]

Prisoner's dilemma! The max-tension psychological classic, with a secret agent feel~

This one is all about trust and betrayal. Originally, two people would be interrogated separately for information, and told that they would be spared if they turned on their partner. But if both of them kept their mouths shut, then their captors would have less over them and they both could be saved. While if they both betrayed one another, then they would both be punished! For either of them to win, at least one of them would have to take the risk and decide to "trust"~

Today's game is a three-person variant, or rather, a three-unit variant! This means that instead of just one other person, our idols will have to carefully consider the thinking of two whole other groups of people in their decision-making! But like the standard "prisoner's dilemma," only one person each is placed at risk ☆ Just like a sacrifice!

[ briefly, the display switches to images of flower arrangements ]

Additionally, since the idols haven't been told who their partners are, we've provided them with a small means of communication - courtesy of this goryou - for them to find some way to identify themselves, earn the other units' "trust," and get a read on what kinds of people now hold the fate of their unitmate in their hands!

[ and back to Mukuro, a bust shot with the diagram gone now ]

The results this time will be a little more complicated than the original "win/lose" scenario. In this case, even trusting each other won't get a good result. Betraying each other is worse, but only betraying someone who trusts you will save your sacrifice and bring your unit victory~! That's why it's important to convince the other units to "trust" no matter what!

And trusting someone who ends up betraying you - well, wouldn't that be just horrible?

Leeet's go! ♥

Because we wanted to be trusted, obviously.

[ ... and he actually trusted it.

suddenly he feels so gross. ]

Well congratulations I guess.

It wasn't too difficult, apparently.

It's easy to lie with flowers.

I know. We could have just as easily betrayed you both.

You should consider yourself lucky that you didn't. Heart may be good people, but I'm not.

What would you have done? Thrown another tantrum?

[ ha ha. ] I did say you wouldn't want to see me when I'm actually angry.

If that was meant to be intimidating you still haven't done a very good job of it.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] bevoted 2018-07-22 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
Some part of you must be intimidated. Or at least worried. That teammate of yours said it was "your choice" to trust in the end. Why? Were you afraid of some kind of repercussion? Surely you didn't actually want to protect any other teams. Especially not at risk to your own skin.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] eatsthecanary 2018-07-22 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
You can bet your ass it wasn't because we were scared of any of you. But trust is something he'd seen work in another game - - and I knew just enough about the units here to be willing to gamble based on that.

Even if we'd betrayed... Well, maybe everyone expected that of us. But Silver worried it might've painted an even bigger target on our backs.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] bevoted 2018-07-22 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
What's the point of avoiding placing a target on your back if you're not scared of any of us?

Not that it matters. You're lucky. I'm doing my best to be good for my team, but a part of me almost wishes you'd betrayed us just so I'd have an excuse to break all the bones in your body.

Silver didn't want it. If the games are in part going to be popularity contests it's likely to be poor strategic choice in the first place to play hard without a way to hide it.

Which you could call intimidation, I suppose, if you're being liberal about it. But all your threats don't really concern me.

I don’t really care if they “concern” you or not. I’ve already said my piece.

And just for the record, but you might want to avoid pissing us off just in general in the future. We are the healers here after all.

You aren't the only healer, though. And I bet Lucifel would be more than willing to help me.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] bevoted 2018-07-28 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ eyes narrow ]

... Lucifel won't help you if you hurt our unit.

Has he told you that?

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] bevoted 2018-07-28 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he.

clenches his teeth, nearly growling out his response ]

He doesn't have to tell me. I just know that he wouldn't. SensitIV isn't like Wild City.

Re: ENDGAME

He's told me he loves everyone, you know.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] bevoted 2018-07-29 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
... and you believe that? Lucifel's impressionable. Love can be lost much easier than it can be gained.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] eatsthecanary 2018-07-29 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
He's stupid. Or delusional. So I bet he'd help me out if I asked.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] bevoted 2018-07-29 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
He's stupid. But he's not so stupid as to betray sensitIV.

[ or more specifically him. ]

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] eatsthecanary 2018-07-29 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
So if there were a game where SensitiV was targeted, along with other teams - - he wouldn't help absolutely help everyone to the best of his ability? Regardless of whether or not they hurt his unit.

For whatever fee you would all be charging, of course.

Re: ENDGAME

[personal profile] bevoted 2018-07-30 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
.......... if the person-- or unit-- in question purposefully targets us, he won't.

I won't let him.
