[oh god this kind of high is so much better than just taking a hit off of a joint. Mars sucks in a deep breath and lets it out deeply, burrowing into the emotion as deeply as he can, reaching out to Joker yet again to take him down with him]

[this time, the kiss against his neck elicits not interest but contentment. the bone deep kind someone might feel after getting a nice relaxing massage, or something similar]

[curls his fingers into Joker's hair and lets out a pleased sigh of his own]

[how is that supposed to discourage him from leaving more lazy kisses against his neck? it's impossible.

but he at least is letting himself get enveloped by the deep relaxation, not really looking for much of anything in his actions now, just simple taking comfort]

[well, since Joker is paying very nice attention to his neck, he might find himself stumbling upon a day-old bite mark around the juncture where Mars's neck meets his shoulder. SUSPICIOUS. . .]

[but Mars is perfectly content to bask in this level of attention, now that they're on the same page and there's no danger of it escalating into something else. thought he does, at some point, shift a little bit to reach for the still smoking joint. probably for another hit]

[hhhmmm... very suspicious.

which is why he's going to be poking at it a bit. kissing and nipping while making a curious sound? if there's fuss, there's always It's Fine to amp up... that's fine, right?]

[a sharp inhale, cracking one eye open as he takes another drag]

[mmmnn preemptively gonna nudge that acceptance a smidge--it's fine, Joker's not going to push it beyond... well... focusing attention on that spot. and that's fine, right?]

[that's all he says as he rests his hand against his forehead, eyes slipping shut again. he doesn't resist the acceptance being ramped up, and it's followed with a bit of encouragement. do what you wish with it, Joker]

[like that explains it all. because it kinda does. Joker established some boundaries with Fox during the kissing game so, even though the kiss was still... intense. there was no biting involved.

... maybe... a hint of... wishing there had been? maybe.

but then hes pushing that aside in favor of carefully mouthing at the bite, tongue moving over the bruising before he bites gently down at the edge of it, just a bit. this is fine, though? it's just kissing at the neck still...]

[. . . S-SNORTS. . . a flicker of amusement, but he's craning his head so Joker has better access to his neck. there's a low noise in this throat-- almost a purr]

It wasn't that exciting. We were just roughhousing.

[AND FOX BIT HIM]

Just roughhousing, huh.

[vague amusement remembering how indignant Mars got about Joker considering using vid room simulations to fight with.]

Sounds fun.

[so making a mark next to that one is totally just roughhousing. nice.]

[-- a spike of surprise and a small yelp, but he isn't that indignant about the pain (in fact, buddy bond sighs point to him approving of it). though he does tug on Joker's hair in a scolding manner again]

I like to fight. You know this.

[makes a unfussed noise of protest but surrendering quickly to the objection.]

I know. I won't roughhouse, then.

[simple. and he's actually quick to emotionally flop right back into the chill comfort zone, placing a brief kiss on the area he bit.]

on the third hand, chill feelings are superior and thus he puts his attention back on that new bite]

[he's in a pretty pleasant state of Not Thinking Too Hard, so actually comes out sounds stoned and distracted]

You're the type of person to be interested in more than one person at a time, right?

How do you balance that?

[paaaaaauses... because that does hit on some... old issues.]

But the way I think about it... expecting one person to fulfill every need or want or desire is... probably not realistic? Some people aren't looking for deep connections. [touches at Mars's neck a bit.] Just skin. They'd likely have more than a few partners to satisfy that.

Some people... need the deeper connections. So fewer partners over all, because... that's a lot to put on the line.

And some people need a bit of both in different amounts, depending on the situation. Especially on the person they're with.

Not really sure how good that way of thinking is, but...

[it's how he sees it.]

Anyway... long story of many trials and errors later: setting boundaries at the start is... probably the most important. Those can always adjust over time, but starting out, it's very easy to hurt people by accident.

[idly draws a hand up, fingers brushing over the marks on his neck. some people aren't looking for deep connections. that's. . . that's him, isn't it?]

[it's not actually okay, but he leans into the emotional shooshpapping like an eager feline just yeah would rather not think too hard right now and in fact that was hard to think about considering what's gone on that day.

insecurities and self-doubt and all that fun stuff can go stuff it in some dark corner somewhere. superior catnip wins.]
