how we doin, Taisho
Who: Taisho (and anyone who wants to check on them)
Where: Taisho dorms
When: Day 66, late morning
[Maki ultimately spent the night at Future is Now, but in the morning she finally takes everyone's advice and returns to Taisho. She is fully grayscale at this point, and also looks... a bit darker, maybe? Like she's standing in a shadow, or someone moved the brightness slider down slightly.
She changes back into a Taisho outfit before coming back to the common area.]
So... does anyone have thoughts on doing better at unit unity.

As for what you said about the monster game, you think everything is fine because it worked out in the end? That's just because when you made a mistake, you acted as if it couldn't be helped. But it could have been helped. Did you know I suggested attacking Haruto during the exact same round when you were completely sure that you knew who avante's heart was? Did you care? Did you think for one moment that you might be wrong? Did you stop to wonder if, maybe, someone else might have a different idea, and it could possibly be better than yours?
By the way, you were the one who decided when we should attack avante, right after being completely against it. You chose to do that when it ended up being useless, after choosing to attack Intensity because it was a safe choice and cornering me into shutting up. Protecting us is not the same as working with us. I don't want your protection. Stop being so condescending.
And it's good for you that Eve wants to be friends with you, and that you can work with others well when things go your way, but I'm not talking about getting along, I'm talking about a matter of priorities. I don't think your priorities are with us. You say you're not untrustworthy, but if it came down to choosing between, say, me, and any of your boyfriends on other units, we both know how that would turn out.

...And anyway, I told Shu I was wrong about Intensity a couple of days ago.
Are you saying you'd choose me over everyone else here, if it came down to the choice? Because I don't think so. And I don't expect you to.
no subject
And I wouldn't choose you over everyone else on Taisho, but I would normally choose anyone on my unit over someone from another one. Even if it hurt me to do so, and if I didn't like them particularly. And yes, I would expect my unit to choose me too. I think anyone should at least be able to trust that the people they live with will be on their side when they need them.
But I'm not here to preach by example. I've learned to adapt to the way things are, and you've made your position clear. So in your case, no. As things stand now, I probably wouldn't choose you either.

just so he could stick it between them and snap it shut with a boom ]
Quit sniping at each other for just a moment.
Loyalty to this unit isn't a given. It hasn't been since the beginning, and forcing it someone when it hasn't been earned would only breed resentment. But it's irresponsible to think that we have no obligation to one another at all, especially now. To begin with, can we all three agree on those points?
no subject
[just stares at Yasuragi for a moment]
...Yes, I'll agree to that.
no subject
Of course.

You may not recall this at the moment, Marin, and Sol, you weren't there for the first instance, so I'll explain this for the both of you. Setting aside instances when there was nothing at stake, the first game when this unit cooperated well with one another was when Zea was a "hostage." He was held separate from us, and he alone would accept the consequences of our decision. We were tasked to send messages to two other units whose identities were concealed from us using flowers, and interpret the flowers we received from them in turn, and from that, we decided whether to "trust" or "betray" each other unit. We agreed in the end not because we all had , but because we all deferred to Zea, who was the only one placed at risk by our decision.
Beyond that, we also cooperated perfectly well when a game gave us a child to look after. And then there was the instance when the whole lot of you shouted me down from drinking poison.
We can't settle loyalty and trust between the whole group of us in one sitting. But every time we've worked well together, it's been because we placed one person's interests over our own individual ones.
Given that, I'll propose we elect a leader whose interests we can all comply with.

She seems a lot more skeptical when he gets to the end of that, though.]
A leader?
no subject
But... everyone has interests outside Taisho, right?
no subject
[ an answer to both, in a way ]
Not a matter of one person forcing their will on the rest of us, ideally.
no subject
[glancing at Sol.]

I'm not sure... I mean... I trust you, Yasuragi, and I think you'd be good, but... Don't take it the wrong way-- I can't picture you choosing to hurt the people you love for the sake of strategy. And I don't want you to be forced to do it, either. A leader has... a lot of responsibility. It doesn't seem fair.

... If I were to suggest anyone, it'd be Fox.

Yeah... Maki and Okami are the ones who've stayed away more often out of all of us, though. So even if it's not the direct reason for what's happening... I don't think it's wrong to address it.
