For those not already aware or suspecting as much, it's worth noting that the information provided on our profiles appears to be largely false, although some may hold a bit of truth as well. Given that, there is also the possibility that the memories awarded back to us may also be similarly altered or fabricated in order to influence our behavior. I haven't any wish to advise others to discount them as entirely meaningless, but it may be wise to consider them with a level of caution.

It likely also goes without saying that having certain abilities made available to us means that whoever arranged our circumstances has dramatically superior magecraft available to them, and consequentially consider nothing we might acquire to be a sufficient threat. Taking into consideration the present diversity of our group, it follows that their sphere of influence extends to several countries at the very least, as well as potentially different periods of time.

On the contrary, whether they're real or fabricated, they're still useful information. I've only refrained thus far because I've been having trouble acclimating to our surroundings, but others seem to be much less out of their element.

Besides that, other people's purchases are by and large of no real concern to me.

I've been thinking about that for a while. Our situation is pretty uneven in their favour! They control the resources and information, and we have no idea what they want or how they operate.

More or less. I can assume that even most of our indirect interactions have been managed through underlings and intermediaries, such as the repairs and the stock of rations in the kitchen.

I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility, but even assuming the memories returned to us are wholly genuine, they can still decide the timing of what information we receive from them, the order they are given, the amount of context they provide within themselves, and whether or not they're given on a public airing. That much is already quite enough to manipulate people's reactions to them, their reactions to their current circumstances, and subsequently their beliefs as a whole.

The memory that I received seems to have been tampered with. Chiefly, there's information in the form of names and speech that did not come through.

It’s right to be cautious of everything here. I haven’t bought a memory yet so I can’t speak from experience, but, even if there’s a chance they’re false it’s the only clues to our pasts we have.

It also clues us in on what they expect from our ‘roles’ here.

I agree with everything you've said, but what do you propose we do with that information? It seems unproductive to focus on things beyond our control.

Consider their possible motivations for what information and capabilities they provide us, largely. While it isn't terribly likely that we'll learn anything so convenient as their weaknesses from it, we may at least be able to circumvent some level of manipulation they may try to exert over us and the community as a whole. Put shortly, it's an entirely defensive line of thought, I'm afraid.
