Can an artist be depended upon, relied upon for support? Can an artist be someone who protects others, whose strength carries them through difficulties?

The fact that you're an artist doesn't matter. All that means it that you make art.

Do you think making art is fundamentally incompatible with being a strong and dependable person? Because that's the stupidest thing I've heard so far. Being an artist doesn't stop you from being whatever else you want.

I don't know. It is comfortable for me to make art, to immerse myself in practice and study. It feels easier for me to do that, than it is to be self-aware, or strong, or dependable. I don't know what it is to be any of those things.
