351, morning cw: cannibalism mention, human remains as a result
It's as they're taking a break to drink some water from the conbini by the hotel that they decide to regain a memory and
well.
This might actually be the only one they take today.
At least it seems they know their name now.]

[She doesn't know where to begin with all of that. She feels bad that this was how they regained their name.]
Re: 351, morning cw: cannibalism mention, human remains as a result
...Yeah. I'm okay. I guess that was my lesson not to trust strangers on the road.
[They'll remember that.]
"Kino," huh?

I think I might go back to Kino. ["Back to."] It... feels right. Like it fits me better.

Someone asked me if my world was really dangerous enough to need a pers- a gun at all times. I suppose that's why.
[And they'd really tried to save those men, too.
How foolish. Everyone has to eat to live, after all.]

Not only that, but I remember a country where killing wasn't against the law. Besides just the roads, I'm sure there are dangerous countries, too.

. . . I doubt there is a world that is truly free of violence. People can be quite blind when they choose to be. I am glad you possess the means to protect yourself, at the least.
Re: 351, morning cw: cannibalism mention, human remains as a result
[And yet, they can't quite keep a small, if sad smile from their face.]
Even if it wasn't a very happy one, I'm glad to have it back.

...That must have been what Hermes meant, when he asked me why I keep traveling. Even though I've been met with so much cruelty, endured so many hardships, and was nearly killed.

What was your answer?

As for my answer... it's because traveling meant I saw so many things that were fantastic and beautiful, too. I got to see so many places and meet so many people, and see their lives and countries.
I told Hermes, all of those meetings and memories - they were all incredibly important to me. And also... since I could quit at any time, settle down, and make a living off of my skill with persuaders... I wanted to keep going instead.

Hm, you have a destination like any traveler, so you will do what it takes to arrive there, right? Even if the destination keeps changing at each turn. I hope you get to have a few beautiful memories in between the troubling ones, at least.

anyway the first one is a nice snippet of a productive and trusting relationship with a scientific mentor of hers, who seems like legitimately a lovely person despite being a vampire.
the second one is. uncomfortable. her mouth is drawn into a thoughtful frown by the end of it, but the thin spiny black tail peeking from under the hem of her skirt is fwipping back and forth in an agitated sort of way. ]

I don't regret remembering this, even if it turned out to have a sorrowful conclusion. In the end, it was an important lesson.

Whether happy or not, they are our memories. There are few of us here that do not wish for them back, even when we know what may come of them.

...Although I think for today I'll leave it at just that one.

Thank you. For both of our sakes.

Did it bother you to see all of that? It was a lot to watch.

[No skin off their back, they're handling the memories well enough even on their own.]
*shakes fist at gmail*
[She understands, though. Regaining sad memories is hard for anyone.]
Not that something like that is a bad thing, if that's the case.
Re: *shakes fist at gmail*
[That sounds much too kind.]
I just... love traveling, I suppose. It means I get to see all kinds of places and meet all kinds of people. Even if some of those places or people hurt me... if I let that scare me off, I'd never see anything new at all.

But... I can't think of a better way to begin to see the vastness of the world. There's so many people who you don't know and never will, who grew up in completely different circumstances from you, living out their own complete lives...
Even if it's just a short glimpse, I'm glad I get the chance to see it, just a little.
