Mm... I know even though she hasn't always felt like she fit in with the rest of them, it mattered a lot to her to be able to support them.

Then again, if it were easy for her, she'd be a really different person.

Since she transferred, I can only assume they failed to support her in turn.

...she did talk about being... on uneasy terms, now and again. There was the whole thing last winter.

I suppose a lot of people would also... easily forget that someone capable and confident such as her might need that.

It might be easy to forget but it's not that difficult to figure out.

...but also, I'm not worried at all about that being a problem here.

I'd prefer we be proactive. The unit needs to be on same page the next time a tense game rolls around.

I've been thinking it'd be a good idea to get a sense of people's priorities—whether that's a meeting or otherwise. I thought your collecting thoughts on which units are protected or not was a good way to do it, actually.

A meeting would be a disaster, so let's avoid that.

Maybe if we ask everyone to rank a list of things they might care about...?

I mean, if you think meetings are bad, then we have to all communicate somehow.

I don't want you to be over-confident. Amaranth has strong connections with a couple other people on this team but her strongest connection is with me and that's going to make Nemesis, Gold, and Kohime tense—She's already found some excuse to freak out. It's a bad situation waiting to happen and I don't want to put Amaranth through that.

Mm, I think Kohime will be a lot less tense in a little bit, once she and Amaranth get to talk. She likes Amaranth a lot, actually.

As for the others... well, I think Gold feels supported enough here that he won't be too troubled, although I'm a little worried about how Nemesis is doing in general, but she's kind of guarded about her feelings.

Req's been gone for a few days and I don't think Nemesis is close to many people besides Hurricane.

Mm. I sort of wish she'd let herself have more of a sense of camaraderie, since that sort of thing is important under stress...

[Cardinal sighs and shrugs.]

I don't know how to encourage it. I'd like to do something to support her but being too overt would just scare her off.

...mm, that's the tough part. I'm trying to think of even who would be in her peer group, these days.

... Baritones has a few kids now she might get along with. And she gets along with Alexander last time I checked.

Pistol does kind of give off that impression... and she's still a teenager, I think? Although I can never tell, sometimes. And Crown seems like a nice young man.

...and also Tequila Sunrise seems like the sort of person she would bully despite being a bit older, which in this case I feel like does not actually preclude friendship.

I suppose it's sort of like how you have to convince cats something is their idea sometimes, though.

If we have Baritones over and then Lilis over later it will seem natural enough that we're building relations with our transfer-affiliation units. And Amaranth will like it.
