The First Game

Who: Calling all idols

When: day 2, afternoon

[ You didn't lose your phone, did you?

If you didn't and you're anywhere within range of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building-- your phone just went off loudly, with an insistent vibration. All other features of your phone have been overridden by an alert header above a map that reads:

GAME TIME.

The map displays the route to the Game Tower from your current location. You can't make phone calls, you can't play with your camera, you can't even check your profile.

Follow the map, and the doors open to the lobby, welcoming you in. ]

Decide two numbers, one through twenty.
Each number corresponds to a box, so if another unit has chosen those numbers, you'll have to switch!
Don't pick #12!

Game Start

Open the box, and do what it asks!
Many boxes will have a prop provided. Some tasks may be performed without the prop.
Successfully perform your task within the time allotted, and you will get a point.
Tasks can be completed by anyone within a unit.
There may be a tie-breaker round.

[ Board the elevator and TV monitors and a 3D hologram display what's happening on an unknown higher floor where you are heading to: when you entered the screen was black, but now there's a girl's voice: ]

"Let there be lights! "

[ The screen illuminates, showing a blonde with pigtails on a stage. Before her are 20 numbered boxes, as she enthusiastically continues her introduction spiel to the camera. ]

"Cameras! And action!"

[ She claps twice, gives a winning smile, and bows ]

"Ladies, gentlemen, honored guests! It's time for our newest idols to take the stage, so bow your heads, and put your hands together! Live on stage, it's time for fanclub requests to be answered!"

Once you've exited the elevator to the game stage your phone will now display these instructions. ]

Put your unit header at the top, and write the two numbers.

[ You open the box and written on the inside is of the top is this note, "til death do us part ♥ "

Creepy! The box has both a knife and a signet ring in there. The instructions tell you to swear an oath of loyalty/devotion to someone either as a blood oath, or by the ring, which you must kneel and kiss. If you use the ring, once it's sworn, it cannot be removed. ]

[ You open the box and

Nothing? Happens?

For a moment at least. And then a geyser of slime erupts from the bottom of the box, dousing you and anyone else on the unit who was standing close. Ah, the old game show classic. The top of the box reads, "You were told not to pick this one! No points for the round for you, unless you come up with a good way to make it up to everyone!" ]

[ You open the box and written on the inside of the top is the note, "Idols that leave a big impact without even a word are the best!"

There is no prop inside the box, just a written note of instruction. It directs you to hit someone, and that you are not allowed to explain why or apologize. It's a clear misinterpretation of the request, but that's what they're giving you points for… ]

[You open the box, and written on the top is this note: "I really love mischievous idols! I want to see one play a prank on another idol and see the reactions afterwards!"

Inside the box is a bottle of itching powder, with a task attached: Put this down someone's shirt ]

[You open the box, and written on the top is this note "Maid outfits are my favorite! I want to see an idol in a maid outfit, for the ultimate fanservice!"

Inside the box is, unsurprisingly, a couple of maid outfits-- if they only put one, how could they guarantee it would fit?. The note asks for an idol to dress up in it. . . . It doesn't specify you have to dress up, though. If you can convince someone else or stuff someone else into it, you'll still get the points for this task! ]

[ You open the box and written on the top is this note, "Idols are justice! Deliver me some justice, idols! And handcuffs! Handcuffs for the unjust!"

The box has handcuffs in them. Since the note was… ridiculous, there's another note clarifying the instructions: arrest someone. The key will be provided in their drop box after the game is over. ]

[ You open the box and written on the top is this note, "I want to be confessed to by an idol! Well, that's impossible. But I still want to watch an idol confess. If it's not for real, I can pretend it's for me!"

Sure, okay. Inside the box is a bouquet, and the instructions: confess your feelings for someone. Is this… really okay for an idol to be doing? ]

[ You open the box and written on the inside of the top is this note, "This is probably something better to ask comedians, but impersonations?"

There's no provided prop. The accompanying instructional note tells you to do an impression of one of the other idols, whoever has left the strongest impression on you so far. ]

[ You open the box and written on the inside of the top is this note, "To me, idols are like a light shining in the darkness. Even if everything else looks hopeless, I believe these idols can guide me forward."

Inside the box is a blindfold, and a note with instructions because that note on the top… surely the person who left that didn't mean for it to be actually used as instructions… They read, "One idol must wear the blindfold, and another must guide them. The person opening this box may take either. Do not remove it until the close of the game." ]

[ In this box is a note and a single white glove. The note reads, “I love idols! I love drama! But recently, something else has captured my attention! Just the other day, I read the latest chapter in my favorite shoujo manga - the girl challenges the other girl by throwing a white glove at her! Apparently this is something foreigners do?ww I want to see someone do that for real!”

Well, at least this note has a prop, but this was pretty out of left field. The instructions tell you to challenge someone to a friendly duel. Friendly is underlined three times and bolded, with a disclaimer that both participants of the duel should come out relatively unscathed. You guys are idols, after all! Arm wrestling and thumb wars have been listed as possible duel examples, if you’re really that uncreative. ]

[ You open the box and written on the inside of the top is this note, "omg VAMPIRE IDOL PLZ"

The provided prop is predictably a pair of vampire fangs-- sharp and designed to slide over your canine teeth. The instructions tell you to bite someone, and note that if you have your own fangs using the prop is unnecessary. ]

[You open the box and written on the top is this note, "It's one thing to read a profile, but I want to hear what the idols have to say! Please air their own self-introductions, I want to meet them in their own words!"

Honestly, that's kind of a cute request. This box just has a microphone in it, and instructions taped on it, asking you to introduce yourself to the audience and other units. ]

[ The difference between the note’s tone and the request for this box is palpable. It reads, “Hello. My name is Kitazawa from the Saitama Prefecture. I follow the Imeeji groups religiously and I look forward to the new generation with you, the new idols. I’m rooting for you. People say I’m a pretty boring person, but one thing I like is playing pranks on people. I think it’s a great icebreaker to get to know people, although I’m a shy person myself. My request is that you play a prank on someone. I added a little something that I thought might make it easier. Do your best. I look forward to the next taping.”

The “little something” looks to be . . . . several packets of what looks like blood. Upon further inspection, it looks like it’s actually pig’s blood, but that. . . . means it’s actually still blood. Okay. The instructions say: “Fake your death.”

. . . . . Okay! ]

[ You open the box and written on the top is, "Dancing is a must for idols!"

Inside the box is a record player, a stack of records, and a note instructing you to dance with another idol, as you've regrettably not had time to learn any routines the fanservice of dancing as a couple will have to do instead. ]

[ You open the box and written on the inside of the top is this note, "idols always make me think of my first crush lol, there was this one that was super popular while I was in grade school so we pinky promised to go see them someday when we had jobs and made money but by the time we could afford it they'd broken up like, three years ago. "

That "request" had nothing to do with you? Or the other idols? There's no prop either, but at least there are instructions to tell you something actually useful for getting points: it instructs you to make a pinky promise of something to another idol. Nostalgic appeal is important, as is establishing bonds for the camera. ]

[ You open the box and written on the inside of the top is this note, "hurt/comfort = top-tier trope. Can you get one of the idols to comfort someone in their time of need?"

The provided prop is eye drops-- to help it make someone look like they're crying. The instructions inside the box tell you to comfort someone crying, and that use of the prop is unnecessary to get someone to fake it, if you can find someone actually crying. ]

[ This box has unexpectedly a large amount of reading material: there are three manuscripts, as well as the instructions and the note. The note reads as such: “omgggg did u see the last episode of hath no fury? I mean you guys are idols so prbly not lol. U should tho!! The girl finds out her lover is cheating on her with none other than her own dad!! Her DAD that is CRAZY!! Real life really doesnt compare lololol i wanna see something exciting like that lololol”

The manuscript, predictably, is the script to the drama, with highlighted roles for the Heroine, the Lover, and the Father. The instructions note that you need to play out this scenario, though there’s notably not much to the manuscripts - it looks like you’ll have to do this improv. Makes it more natural, you know? According to the instructions, you don’t need to have three people participating and you could have the Heroine with the Father or the Heroine with the Lover, but would it really be complete without all three of the cast? Well, it might be less embarrassing to do it with just two ]

And now, we begin the grand finale! You've all done so well, we need a tie-breaker round! There will be one challenge, and only one needs to fufill it! Good luck, everybody!

[ she cranks the handle, letting the paper inside jumble about, before she reaches deep inside and pulls out a single piece. she opens it and reads aloud: ]

Break an arm!

[ once Heart Soldier Senshi makes their stage dive, Exael claps and all at once the studio goes dim-- though the elevators still glow brightly.

She applauds ]

[ once you leave the tower and your phones are working again, the following teams have found their points totals have changed:

Heart Soldier Senshi: +800 points, for completion of the bonus round
All other teams: +500, for completion of both boxes.
