I beat the shit out of him before the game and burned everything in his fucking room. If he'd been bullshitting me, he'd be out on his ass right now, figuring out what to do when he faded out of existence.

He's two days old. I've got zero incentive to lie for a fucking stranger, especially some asshole who sells us out to the fucking demon higher-ups.

Sure. But if you get the wrong guy because you can't fucking listen, whatever you do's going to be worth fuck-all. And then he's going to come back and do it all over again, because someone else got all the consequences when he's the one who dicked us over.
