y'all live like this?
Who: BEDEs and a new rear end
Where: Bad End = Dead End dorms
When: Day 138, early morning
[It is both too early and too late for this, but your dorms seem to have a new person in them. She looks rather dignified under the circumstances, though her eyes seem to be scanning for something on the way to the central room of the dorm.
They may also be a bit narrowed because reasons.]

At least this god seemed like she would imagine one would be. Fierce, unforgiving.
Unspeakably cruel.]
I'm following, yes.

At some point, one of the angels decided to defect, and took a bunch of others with him. They became demons, and started a war against heaven. The demons ended up in hell.
[He washes his hands, then starts chopping the vegetables - red bell pepper and onions.]
That, according to the best information we have at the moment, is where this is meant to be. The hell spoken of in Christian myth. The producers hosting our show, who brought us here, claim to be demons.

Whoops.]
That seems like such an odd way to respond to being cast down from heaven. What do losers need with entertainment? They don't deserve to have good morale.

[It isn't right. She's taken to seeing if they have anything to clean off the counters. It shouldn't be a problem since it's her place to(o).]
So we're playthings for minions. All these distasteful feelings are making me work up a bit of an appetite. Is that the worst of it?

[Pokes back into the fridge for some butter, then cuts a pat off to toss into the pan with the neatly cubed peppers and onions.]

[That looks good, she's going to pause her cleaning to peer at his process. Not too closely, nothing imposing, but she's curious.]

They have us play in games. They run from stupid nonsense things to the kind of games you'd expect in a place designed to torture people for eternity.

[Easier to wonder about logistics than to think about being under someone's thumb forever.]

There are a lot of scenarios where we have to choose to hurt or protect others.
no subject
That's...
Would you say we are skilled at these games, as roommates?

We have shitty luck.
The good news is, the damage they throw at us isn't permanent, for the most part. There's serious injury, and there's death, but whatever magic they have here is powerful. They want us to jump through their hoops, so they set us back on our feet and put us back together again.

[That statement was as dry as toast.]
Is our luck bad by chance, or someone else's design?

[He finishes grating the cheese and turns to stir the peppers and the onions. Then he lets them keep going and cracks a couple of eggs into a bowl.]
The last game we died in, the statistical likelihood of every component failing if we actually got them all was - [Please hold while he runs the numbers.] - something like 4%. Just under 4%. Sure enough, we beat the odds.
But, look around. [He gestures at the dorm at large.] Not everyone's place looks like ours does.
As for whether anyone's out for blood in the games? It's possible, but it's more likely that people just don't care enough, or have higher priorities. We've arranged an alliance recently to help some with protection games, so that ought to start making an impact.

[Sniff sniff. The veggie mix was starting to smell good, and she couldn't help but be impressed by both that and the frank talk. How to fix it, she wasn't sure, but spelling out the reasons they struggled helped immensely.
Though, their little group was called Bad End = Dead End. It seemed to court misfortune.]
But it's good that we're taking action to fight it. Resting on our laurels because we've been pushed around by the system would just be distasteful.

[He pours a splash of milk into the eggs and whisks them together with a fork.]
LiliS is the team we're allied with. They've had luck about as shitty as ours, so all parties involved stand to benefit.

[She's still thinking more "your" than "our", but the facts were that their fates were tied together. It was...
She's just going to look for some plates and utensils.]
no subject
[Scrapes the veggies out of the pan and onto a plate with a paper towel to drain. Then he adds a little more butter, lets it melt, and pours the egg mixture into the pan, rotating his wrist to spread it evenly.]

[She really should be writing this down, so she doesn't have to ask how to do it again if she needs. But her hands are a bit full at the moment, and-]
Should I just put out settings for the both of us?
no subject
[Adds the cheese and veg to the bottom half of the egg circle.]
Go ahead and set spots for everyone.
no subject
[It's odd, that she doesn't have to ask "how many", as she'd scrolled just enough to know.]
Anything else I need to keep in mind about our little slice of hell?

[Flips the omelette closed.]
