[ the live opens in the middle of a baseball field and, hm, this has to be some sort of mistake, right, because there's nothing doing he- wrong. the phone starts to shake as the thunderous something of something fast approaches. ]

[ a couple of chariots burst onto the scene from each side, crossing each other in front and then circling back in a wide arc only to join at the center and slow just a few short feet from the camera. d.va and hurricane of hss are in one and nemesis and griffin of avante are in the other. ]

[ d.va steps up on to the front of the chariot in this and spreads her arms open with flourish. ] Hello and welcome to the Cooliseum, where Heart Solider Senshi and avante en garde are hosting Imeeji's first Contest of Champions, consisting of fights, races, and the ultimate combination of the two - chariot drawn combat!

If you think you have what it takes to compete to claim the title of the Imeeji Champion, the First and Everlasting, King of all Kings, Both a Badass and a Motherfucker, Gift of Hell Who Holds the Win, Creator of Tears and Jealousy, Vanquisher of Men, the Unkillable, the Undefeatable, and the Controller of the Crown in our contests, then come show your stuff - or, IDK, don't [ shrug. ] and just be a loser forever.

[Hurricane hops down out of the second chariot, in some dumb outfit he absolutely made with sheets, safety pins, and fabric glue.]

Dudes and gladiators, listen up! You been bored lately? We got you covered! You ever wanted to joust from a chariot while your friends’re driving crazy on some badass arena-style racetrack? We got that, too. You one of those people that’s just really, really into horses? There’s totally gonna be horses! It’s like win, win... win? There’s a lot of wins, anyway.

And then one more on top of that — cause one of you lucky Cooliseum-goers is gonna show off all your badass gladiatory skills and take home the ultimate prize.

[Nemesis steps up, dressed up like the others. She sweeps out an arm dramatically, gold and tyrian bangles jingling from her wrists.]

By the power vested in me by Nike, Adidas, and the other gods of challenge, I christen the gates on this temple of trial! Now, time to throw down!

[Griffin's still wearing his goddamn normal uniform. Because he's the only adult among the four and that's saying something? Saving money is cool, kids, but he is getting shamed for not playing along.] Oh yeah, and if you get trampled by horses or something, don't come crying to us. That's all on you.

I wasn't under the impression it was transferrable after this. "Everlasting Champion" and that kind of thing.

Not for the hand to hand combat, no.

No, but it does seem like a bit of an unfair advantage.

Ha! What's the sudden interest in a level playing field?

I'm just saying. It doesn't show you have better chariot skills, just that you have better having-a-dragon skills.

And they're free to use whatever powers they have at their disposal as well. I'm not seeing the problem.

Well, if that's what you want. I was planning to fight without powers, myself.

But doesn't that give you the advantage is most situations?

It's actually a bit challenging for me to fight without inflicting lethal injuries. Though, I've been practicing.

That's making this half of the coliseum sound less and less appealing than the chariot races.
