I'll start with the short version.

A rift opened in space/time last night. It led to what we presume to be the dimension of Heaven.

Don't actually eat that. I might use pieces of it in an experiment.

And not quite a garden. A courtyard for sure. But there were living quarters and a tower. And off one edge a look straight down into the Abyss of Hell.

Also, it had been deserted. Or abandoned. Not enough clues to know either way which it actually was.

I'm not sure yet. Some people stayed behind after the rift closed. I'm going to stop by pep!pep! later and see how they managed to make it back.
